Noisy truck

Hey guys, My Dad has a 2001 2500 4x4 with a 24 valve Cummins. I have always liked this truck! I think you could pull stumps with it if there was enough traction. But dang its loud! Is there any way to make them a little quieter? Different exhaust maybe? Any suggestions?

Well if you think it has always been loud, it's because the old 5.9 is a loud motor. If it's become loud recently, its probably because of an exhaust leak. You can just search the web to find a good muffler that will fit the exhaust.

Even new I had friends that would have to shut them down in the drive thru so they could be heard. Not a lot u can do

We bought our truck new in '98 and it has always been loud. Drive-throughs and any window-side conversations require shutting it down.
