I thought you guys might be interested in my latest beach trip. I am on North Core Banks and you can see in the pictures there's not really anyone in sight in either direction down the beach. The back road through the dunes is drivable even with the factory SRAs, but it'd be a lot better with a set of BFGs probably.

I've aired down to 20 and haven't had any signs of needing to go down any further. I've found if I don't limit the trans to third gear it tends to shift from third to fourth to third to fourth to third, etc. The only areas where it seems to bog down is on the beach ramps where the sand is deep and soft.

If you wonder, I have the Outdoorsman with the locking 4wd, not the auto. Anybody have any problems in sand with the 4wd auto? I've heard things, but I don't have any direct reports.

I imagine South Core Banks is similar but I've never driven it. If you have, please post some details.

It really is the only way to go to the beach.
