NP231 Output Shaft

Hey!

I’ve got. 97 Ram 1500 4wd. My transfer case chain was getting pretty loose so I swapped it out for one out of a 99. When I installed the new (to me) transfer case, I noticed that the speed sensor was nowhere to be found on the output shaft housing. Needing the truck to be operational and not being too worried about. It having a speedometer during the Winter, I just went ahead and installed it. I’m wondering, can I use the output shaft housing with the speed sensor from the one transfer case for the transfer case that doesn’t have one installed stock? They’re both stock NP231D cases.

I would think they are interchangeable,but you might have to swap the output shaft along with it if it's different(mechanical speedometer vs. electronic)
Not sure what your truck would have had originally
Remove the t-case output housings from both and compare
