I saw a video where this guy goes into some detail about the way the MDS system works and according to him, during normal operation your lifters are actually getting lower pressure oiling than when the MDS is engaged. He was suggesting that as part of the tick fix, MDS should be torn out and replaced with some kind of non adjustable valve put in its place to keep the lifter pressure high.

It was a long video and one that was meant to spark debate. But if you just replaced cam and lifters (there's always a chance to get a bad one), and you already have one ticking, maybe that's something you may want to look at. Maybe it's as simple as an o-ring allowing too much pressure to bleed off.

I don't have the hemi or the tick so I've not really paid a lot of attention, but that vid stuck in my mind so I thought to mention it.
I saw that video too. If I end up having to replace the cam/ lifters, I will consider deleting the MDS. I just not know where to get a tune to complete the delete.

Does not sound like a rod at all I hear injectors possibly a sticky lifter on that one side sounds like it runs smooth they all tick a little I would do a oil change if you have not done one in a while.
JWS123,
So we decided to not take it on the trip to Florida. It's a 1300 mile trip one way and I am a little to nervous to take it and be stranded somewhere along the east coast.
I did change the oil and the noise quieted down a bit but it is still there. And I'd hate to lose he cam going down or coming back.
What would you have done?

2017 Ram with 71000 on her. I use Valvoline with a good NAPA filter, I always leave a quart of oil out and replace with Rislone. I also don't let it idle any more than I have to. I rarely get any tick and only at firts start up.

Hey guys, I just saw all these responses thanks for y’all’s help. The noise actually ended up being bad gas. And it was coming from the injector. Drained the tank and put some new gas in and the noise went away.

Very cool you got it sorted. How did you determine it was the fuel?
