Hey all, I had OEM mudflaps installed about 4 weeks ago......3 days after the install I heard a rattling in the left front when I checked it was the left front mudflap they just installed. The flaps are installed using 4 screws, 3 on the inside wheel well and 1 on outside of the flap underneath the rocker panel. The outside screw was missing, I took the flap off and found some light scratches from it flapping around. I contacted the dealer and they apologized and I took it back about a week later, they washed the vehicle buffed out the area and re-installed the flap and gave me a free oil change......so today I was out washing the truck and I found the right mudflap had come loose and the bottom screw missing and i checked the left one and it was loose and the bottom screw was missing as well, took both of them off and low and behold scratches, now I'm not happy, contact the dealer and they are contacting someone at the oem accessories to find out if this a problem.....whether its a problem elsewhere or not its a problem with them now, to top it off its a 1.5 hr trip to the dealer (one way). Has anyone had this problem, would like to get everyones thoughts before I go up and make an a** out of myself?

Ya... rip those off. They scratch the **** out of the paint. Or put some 3m type felt on them where they touch the paint.

Not to be rude but you’re talking about driving to the dealer and in your case 1.5 hours to have mud flaps installed/fix issues post mud flaps install, lol.

Get down there grab a couple of screws and fix them yourself, they’re mud flaps. grab a beer too if it’s make you happier, lol get to know your mud flaps.

I guess I’m not that much aware of the OEM Mopar mudflaps, but I have the molded weathertech mudflaps and the way they install, is they use the last four screws that hold on the OEM fender flares. Not sure if your truck has the OEM fender flares or not but, I would imagine that the Mopar flaps would both attach the same way, even as my weathertechs, whether you have the flares or not. Snap us a picture of the flaps.

I have the OEM mud flaps on my truck. I installed them myself right after getting it in March of 2018. No issues at all, and they're still rock solid.

How do they attach? Do they mount in the same, general way as my weathertechs?

Sounded to me like more of an issue with the scratches in the paint being fixed than reattaching the flaps.

I honestly dont know. I only have experience with the Mopar branded ones. If I remember correctly, the attached fairly easy by using the standard push pin things. I might have had to drill one hole...but that was 1.5 yrs ago, so I may be way off.

Take a look at the DuraFlap drill-less installation mud flaps. They are a full size design so they give great protection for the truck. They are designed to hang straight and centered to stock wheels and tires. If you need a custom shift outward due to aftermarket wheels, no problem just give them a call.

I have used the Mopar molded mudflaps on my 2013, and out Jeep Wrangler. I installed them myself, and have not had any issues with them coming lose. They pretty much use the existing holes, and if I remember right I had to drill one hole, and that was optional. Makes me wonder if they "over sized" the holes which is preventing the screws to stay tight. I do like the molded mudflaps, but thinking of changing them to the rubber ones which have been discussed on this site as well.

I had to remove my OEM molded Guards when I added the OEM boards. Only had them on a short time so no scratch's.I did not have the 3M Stone guard on the paint ! Installed the OEM Rubber one's and added a extra screw in the existing hole using a screw clip like these !

I figure with the snow and slush we get the extra screw may help hold in place a little !

I have the "molded" sportier looking Mopar Flaps. I actually originally ordered the Rubber "more truck like" style, only the rears were available, the fronts were on national backorder for like 6 mo or something, so I changed over to the molded style. They look nice, but now that I changed to 35x12.50's I'm thinking I would prefer going back to the rubber style for a bit more protection, I seem to throw gravel quite a bit with the BFT AT's. :(.

I just have to decide if I want to add flares first since they take different mud flaps/guards. Don't want the hassle of trying to paint match flares so trying to decide how black would look on MSG paint... Plus I think there's something about preferring 2500 flares on a 1500?
