Offset and Towing Heavy

What is the effect on towing safety of offset wheels? I’m talking actual measurable 2.5 to 3.0 inches of tire visible outside the fender well. There are no spacers the wheels are backspaced for the effect.

Other then a tractor pull on dirt have you ever seen vehicles made to tow heavy have tires that stuck out? The ones that do stick out have a double axle and 4 tires on the axle. It would be a little harder on your suspension, probably not that big of deal, but you wont gain anything.

The more offset that hangs your tires outside the ends of your axle the more strain and stress on the axle shafts.

And bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints. It’s not necessarily instant failure, just accelerated wear. And then there’s the rut tracking.

My tires stick out about 3/4” outside the fender. No tracking or towing issues, but that’s not very far off from stock. Running 295/70/18 G2’s

offset wheels wear out bearings, just picture in your mind
what it would look like with the wheels being pointed straight ahead
Now picture them fully cranked to the left or right, they lean a lot.
Now picture them turned to either side & driving at 40 MPH or more

That may be why they don't put wheels that turn on skateboards

About 2.0 inches of the 12.5 inch tire is outside the fender. Shame, they really look good.
