I fallow the oil life indicator for my changes and since ive switched to amsoil xl my mileage cut down by 4-6k kms, first oil change was at dealer with about 5k kms on it, got about 15k kms out of that change, next oil change was rp, got about the same, switched to amsoil xl and only got 7k kms out of it, now at the same time i stopped using the truck to travel to work so now it only gets used around town, to go in the bush and on my days off, basically alot more short interval driving compared to the 45minute to and from work that it used to do, is it the oil or just the change in driving causing the significant reduction in oil life?

I did my first oil change at 10000km at dealer (only cause it was free lol) then switched to mobile 1 syn and mileage got better but I change it every 10000km and my indicator still says 41% when I change mine.

Just clear the oil life indicator and move on, Amsoil SS should be good til around the 15k mark and up to two years. You know how to clear it? Move key to last position before start, then back the key all the way down, push gas pedal three times and start. Not sure about the 2013, but the 2009 that clears it. But you should be running a synthetic filter, if not you should change that and top off.
