Probably should ask in the Cummins forum below. But I think the consensus is that if you live or drive in cold climates, the T6 5-40 is the way to go. Otherwise, the 10-30 is fine.

IMO T-6 5w40 I've ran that oil year round for many years, first in my 2006 5.9 CTD and now in my 2022 and in a wide range of in temps from sub zero to temps in the humid midwest summers in the 90-100...

I see they moved this thread for you.

Reading your question again, you seem to be also be asking about full syn vs semi-syn. The owners manual specifies "synthetic" for the 5-40. I think most read that as fully synthetic. Not sure if a semi-synthetic would meet the requirement or not. Doesn't look like T5 is available in the 5-40 anyway, so probably a moot discussion. The 10-30 oil does not have to be synthetic at all.

At my local store, the price difference between the T3 10-30 and T6 5-40 was only about $2 a gallon. I could use either where I live, but for the small price difference, it just makes more sense to run the oil with the greater operating range.

I attached a bulletin about oils for the Ram Cummins motors.
