Open or closed you will have pressure drop...

It's basic fluid dynamics. The more surface area the fluid has to "rub" against, push though, etc, the more resistance to flow there will be.

Regardless, with the above pictured kits and the excellent quality of parts involved, the pressure drop would be nominal.

I was thinking about something like this on my 12, which has the 4.7. my arms just ain't quite long enough even on a lift I can barely reach it with it's position among the frame and the sway bar.

With the dual filters on mine,i actually gained pressure at the sensor.Truck with the stock set-up idled at 49/50 and ran down the road at 60 mph at 57,with the dual filters it idles at 50/51 and going down the road it's 59. I did upgrade the lines to -10 and i spent some time porting/polishing both the filter adapter and the remote mount and i run the bigger 30-8A Royal Purple filters,but i'd guess the pressure increase is more due to the fact at full flow the bigger dual filters are less of a restriction then the stock smaller single filter

Go for it! It requires some flexing, but I've always been able to replace my tks filter w/o too much trouble. I suppose for people with mobility issues it might make it easier.

Yer still going to have oil drizzling somewhere on your truck, it's an almost unavoidable part of changing oil.

I don't have any oil dribbling on my truck with the dual filters,but it does take more oil to fill and 2 filters to do an oil change,but no mess.

Well to respond to the comment about drop in pressure due to hose length, I’m a firefighter and a big part of our study is friction loss. Yes, the longer the hose the greater the pressure loss, but that is only in an open system. That is fluid flowing with an open end. The oil system is a closed system, a closed system and that is static pressure. There should be NO drop in pressure. You might need a half of quart more, just guessing. I just want to know the quality of these kits.

Oh god oh ****. I’m having to learn pressure loss over distance for my s211(portable pumps) and yeah. It’s oh so fun.

I don't understand wanting to modify the location. I change my own oil, it isn't that big a deal. Tough spot? Maybe, but I always figures it was designed that way for a reason. It's also an excellent way to void any warranty.

The spot might have made sense when they originally designed the Hemi, but how many redesigns has the 1500 had since then?

Has anyone tried this filter relocation kit from Mopar?
I'm reluctant to use aftermarket relocation kits since my truck is covered by a MaxCare service contract.
This Mopar solution looks interesting and no hoses:

This Mopar solution looks interesting and no hoses:
I've seen that adapter before, but the application never included the 5.7L Hemi. It was always for the 6.4L. That's something I'd be very interested in if it would fit the 5.7L.

But, look what I found on the Mopar site-an adapter that fits 2012-2002 5.7's. It's the part represented by the boxed #1 part in the illustration. Not cheap but it is Mopar avoiding any conflicts:

You have a typo in there. It should read 2012-2022.

So the gen 4 Rams have gen 3 hemis so has anyone tried any of the above referenced adapters?

Damn I've confused everyone.
Sorry for the typo-part # 4893315AC on the Mopar site is for 2012-2022 GEN IV-V 5.7's as noted.
The link in post #29 references another adapter on Jeg's website that fit 5.7's but only GEN III 5.7's.
Hope that clarifies it.

I thought this also. Mentioned it to my mechanic neighbor. He said, put a 25 foot hose on your house water spigot and see how long it take to fill a bucket. Switch to a 100 foot hose and fill the same bucket. Time and pressure will be the same. He said hydraulic pressure isn’t not affected by distance. Sounds good but I’m not sure.
What your neighbor said is true. What would be affected is volume, i.e. more tubing for the oil to flow through the more the system needs to hold. So your system may hold more than 7 quarts of oil.

I would definitely be interesting hearing of any success from the 4893315AC adapter. I wonder if this would make changes easier/cleaner. I always make a mess with the stock location. I have 100K EXT powertrain warranty so I'm afraid to install anything with hoses.

I've got about another 1,500 miles till my next change, which is the first since installing the relocation kit.

Hopefully I'll remember to take pictures this time. :emotions33:
