Imo, the FRAM Synthetic Endurance oil filter is another good choice. It's almost an carbon copy the Royal Purple oil filters ... the baseplate has two fewer inlet holes on the FRAM Synthetic Endurance oil filter.

Did you see the various test results? Fram Endurance isn't as flow-restrictive as Fram Ultra. Yes, yes, it shouldn't make any difference to a constant volume oil pump, yet it does in real life per member results.

I have not seen test results on the FRAM FE Endurance oil filters.

However, having first hand visual inspection of the FRAM FE Synthetic Endurance filters, they are just as good quality as the Royal Purple oil filters, that is jmo.

Been out of the game for a while. But i think most of us are running around 5,000 mile OCI’s on the 6.4?

Last filter test I saw, the original one Mike posted like 20 years ago…LOL, the WIX XP was still a great choice.

And are we against the RP filters now? Or amsoil EAO?

Iv still got like ten 20-820’s left tho so get this **** sorted out in the next 5 years for me will ya.

Wix XP is a rock catcher, does little for wear reduction. Sure flows nice, though! (hint - so does an open pipe)

20-820 doesn't fit my truck. Neither do I stock like you guys because I don't know how long I'm keeping vehicle (normally), and I'm concerned about shelf life, esp. moisture absorption in the element and rust on the steel.

And so, RP was hard to come by for a time and Fram changed their lineup, Ultra is now half ultra, new Endurance is the old Ultra.

Aren't marketers fun?

Wait.

Why does the 20-820 not fit your truck?

Ill cut one of my “new” 20-820’s open Next oil change…if I remember.

They are probably a minimum of 5 years old, no rust. Id say more like 6 or 7

*sigh* big long discussion on this way back with pics.
Seems rams weren't built all the same, maybe revisions or generational changes in heavy duty, who knows?

Molded lower radiator hose doesn't allow a larger diameter oil filter. Would have to go a non molded hose and other fooling around cause there's also a Y connector in it. Not happening.
Longest filter of stock diameter is 20-500 or FE 10575

It's easier to go to Wal-"mark" and purchase the FRAM FE2 Synthetic Endurance oil filter, a basic clone of the Royal Purple 20-820, because of the $$ and "sometimes hiatus mode" on the preferred Royal Purple 20-820 oil filters.

Idk, I'm "oil filtered out" ...

When I read about " this oil filter or that oil filter is better than that one because it's filter media sits further inside the can and won't rust sitting on the shelf and that smaller one will blow your HEMI's insides out", I go buy whatever one is talked about and cut it open for a look see ...

... and I haven't a clue what I'm looking at.

Lol.

Except you gotta order online they don't want to stock in their stores.

Where I reside there are three Wal-Mart stores currently still selling the FRAM XG and FRAM FE Synthetic ENDURANCE oil filters off the shelf along with MOPAR, MOTORcraft, GM branded oil filters.

Maybe that'll change and they'll expand the fresh produce isle.

I'll keep my oil filter cutter on standby ... I'll see how well it cuts open avocado's and potatoes, lol.

"Synthetic Endurance"? Is that intended by the Madison avenue Ad execs to motivate a macho, beer drinking, DIY'er to buy those by the case? What a silly Moniker (IMHO)! It reminds me of the satirical names of products on the show "Home Improvement"!

I can just hear Tim The Toolman Taylor exclaim "The new Gritmaster 5000 oil filter from Binford Tools".

I've disassembled oil filters as have many other garage gurus. Frankly, I haven't done them all, but the orange ones were pure laughable garbage once upon a time.

Just as exploding Pinto automobiles left indelible impressions on the consuming public which could never be overcome, my memories of such cheesy oil filter innards has steered me away from that brand through the decades, regardless of how much they may have improved them.

To quote a wise person from my distance past (who has gone to the great beyond).... "There are things you don't do in the first place"!

Once upon a time, a TV ad depicted Chimpanzees doing an oil change! I can't remember whether it was for an oil brand, filter brand, or to remind us mere mortals that getting our hands dirty was/is beneath the dignity of those above trailer park existence. I do know that Mike Rowe has been doing his level best to dispel that notion.

For Asian cars, I use Denso oil filters, because they are very high quality, and are the OE makers of those filters. I wonder if the high quality of those filters has any bearing on those engines NOT wiping out cams and related parts.

Denso doesn't advertise anywhere I've seen. Perhaps they do not need to. After all, in all these decades, I've never encountered any negative consequences of using them both on my own cars, and customers' vehicles as well.

Y'all excuse me now! I've gotta go get a piece of gum to chew! It's recommended by 4 out of 5 dentists surveyed!

I'm just havin' fun! Peace! ;)

... where have you been, lol?

Nobody wants something or anything new that hasn't been given an "tweaked" and updated name, it wouldn't sell, take the orange can and paint it a pretty blue with a cool sounding name and, walla!, money is made, lol.

I agree, I just cannot bring myself to put a Fram branded oil filter on anything I own. Flashbacks......
