I have an MTD splitter, but the brand matters not - what matters is the pump manufacturer - the hydraulic oil must lubricate the pump. Being lower cost consumer products, many use the Barnes 2 stage gear pump, to 3,000 psi on the 2nd stage. Requirement is 10 micron Beta 1000 (95%), depending how many hours you want to get out of it.

The O&M Manual insists on using only ISO VG 32, app. SAE 10W oil. From back in the day, most gear pump makers spec'd ISO VG 46, so I expect the OEM was spec'ing lower vis for colder weather splitting.

how many cords you burn this year? Seams like the longest winter I can remember.
Almost nothing, very mild winter here and in the middle of January I got an operation in my abdomen (7.5h surgery so keen to not have that one again) and should not move more than necessary for 6-8weeks and lift max 6pounds.

+ I hade a new Ground source heat / Geothermal / Rock heat system installed 2023 (656 feet straight down) so I cut my electricity bill in half. So I don't really feel the same pressure to save electricity with wood now :)

Hope all is well in the gut, I had a 7.5 hour surgery there myself a while back. They were expecting a 4 hour, stayed open too long, bad things happened. Spent a decade trying to figure it out, then I found hydrolyzed chia seeds, keeps water in there and best fiber ever. The key is the chia shell survives the stomach and releases in bowel. Simple enough but a real miracle for people who figure it out. Hope all is well brother. Hydrolyzed chia = prepare like you would oatmeal, simply add hot water to dry chia seeds. Works like myrolax without adding freaking anti freeze to your stomach.

Thanks!

My problem was that I got a mesh ~22x26" put in 2004 to strengthening the abdominal wall after several failed surgeries that led to big abdominal hernias every time. Over time my body started to reject that mesh so surgeries where done to cut it out, after 5 surgeries the mesh that where still in there hade holes or where in smaller pieces that the body hade not yet start to reject. But the problem didn't stop so I was walking around with a vacuum pump connected to a hole in the abdomen that sucked all the nice juices out that the body made around the mesh (7 fluid ounces a week)... 4 years and over 450 trips to the hospital later we think it is fixed :D I got pics ;)

Geez, you guys.
We're all damaged goods! 5 hour gut surgery for burst appendix and septic shock, damn near died. But I'm too gnarly to lay down just yet. Severe organ damage tho. Get this - caused by constipation side effect from a blood pressure reducer pill prescribed due to stress and weight gain from corporate takeover from which I got fired.

Ain't life a hoot? Those fuchers!

Makes you wanna join a union, lol.

Brian you sound like a candidate for Burla's chia treatment, give it a try. It's like drinking a salad near flavorless. This is the best brand I have found. Got to hydrolyze them or they are actually dangerous, that can dry you out.

What BP pills? I'm on two, and hope mine isn't one of them.

One is Bisoprolol (BetaBlocker), and the other is Valsartan (ARB).

I don't remember. This was 2018. After that I quit taking them, lost some weight and feel better, though constantly tired due to damaged organs. If you can crap, np.
