Looking at the pic, look at that particular fram ultra top, look at those holes, clearly they chose the fram ultra with the worst holes compared to the field, my guess that effected the test for real.

We can't keep up with all their cost reductions or improvements - these guys keep changing their designs.

But you know what to look for, one of these filters made my truck tick and the other didn't, why? Look at the hples inside, in theory those great top holes should have filtered better, but inner tube matters as well. I still have that filter, lol. Maybe I will use it for a flush someday. Kinda why I like the cheese grater design, IF the holes are open.

Kinda crazy, isn't it? In theory, the hole area shouldn't matter with a constant displacement gearotor oil pump. The same flow should be going through the element, or through the bypass valve if the element is too restrictive (oil vis too high, element plugged, etc.). So, wtf?

Which of those filter made ticking?

I cannot find a Royal Purple filter right now. Had to use a Mobil 1 filter. I found some Royal Purple at Summit but they seem to have a different base number in the description. Anyone know what that means?

Don't know what you are referring to. But, I am currently using on my 2017 HEMI 1500 an Royal Purple 20-820 that I purchased from Summit Racing, more than ten available, if that helps.

I haven't kept up with this thread lately. I read the past several pages. Has there been any discussion of the Royal Purple and Fram Endurance filters being identical?
Seems the Fram Titanium at Advance is basically the Ultra of a few years ago.

When I see that video it makes me even more comfortable in my choice, there is nothing like rp media. He had a premisis, and then he showed the rp media, but he didnt pick apart the endurance media, so dumb man. But it is a good starting point, fram endurance worth a look, maybe some others have been cut open.

As we all discuss oil and oil filters, one of the best oil filters that I ever ran over the years was the Ford Motorcraft filter. I know we have come light years ahead, but it was very similar to RP back in the day. Their oil was great as well. I ran over 200k on that combo with my 04.5 5.4 F150. Never one of the many known issues.

Well I was just looking and I can't find the Fram synthetic endurance online. Walmart is a no, advanced auto is a no, and I am not seeing it on amazon.

The Fram Endurance should be a Walmart exclusive. Like the Titanium is an Advance Auto exclusive. I did see some Endurance filters in stock on walmart.com

The proper number is FE2 for large size hemi. fram stat page for dimensions.

So Fram agrees with what I have been saying? Ultra is a 20k mile filter, but endurance/RP/Amsoil EA is 25k mile filter, so they are saying endurance is best? Cost is 13 bucks, so about the same as RP? Great new info, I am impressed fram went to that filter and actually made it a part of their offerings, wow on that.

Agreed. Hopefully it becomes available soon in my area. I might actually try it on my ram.

Difference if pic is right, fram endurance has 6 holes and RP 20-820 has 8 holes. Damn fram, you couldnt figure that out? sheit, call Burla next time...

So if it is a clone, some cooperation with champ labs, that would mean they cloned amsoil ea filter and not RP, can't judge them on that, perhaps they didnt even consider the rp 20-820.
