Here ya go with the known rp clone, wow?

rp/amsoil ea/ fram endurance = clones? dorothy is going byby.

Wtf is going on out there? 15 variations of filters and oils? What are these marketeers trying to do to us?

Kudos to @Burla for keeping up with this madness. Do we have data for dirt size efficiency, flow restriction, and dirt capacity on the Amsoil?

Back when, it was thought Amsoil was the same as Royal Purple, both wound glass media elements. BUT - look at the tube - it's punched slotted louvers. Burla's Royal Purple has circular punched holes with no "hanging chads". That mattered to his Hemi - he ticked on slotted louvers and not with circular holes.

Help!

This is like explaining 15 different Mobil 1's.

Agreed. Hopefully it becomes available soon in my area. I might actually try it on my ram.

That's for the stock short can. Now for the two longer versions, if they're making any. No time to look right now, will return later.

Confirming - Fram FE10575 is the size for XG10575. Recall this is the "mid size" filter for those of us that couldn't squeeze in the biggest XG2.

FE2 is the direct replacement for XG2.

Now, I'm not yet convinced this is the way to go because I see punched louvers in the center tube instead of drilled or punched circular holes in the Royal Purple. The punched louvers cause Burla's Hemi to still tick.

BUT - the above First Brands conglomeration of formerly independent brands doesn't list Champion Labs. So what's up with Amsoil appearing the same as the new Fram Endurance filter in the video? And what's up with Royal Purple having a different center tube, if Champion is still making those?

For base plate comparisons of the three oil filters.

On the left, AMSOIL EAO11, center FRAM Synthetic Endurance FE2, and on the right the Royal Purple 20-820.

How timely! How'd you do that?

Pretty clear the Royal Base Plate is different than the other two. Maybe Amsoil dropped Champion and got bought up by Fram?

Was googling in the Fram site......their graphic makes their Endurance center tube look like laser-cut slots instead of punched, hanging-chad louvers. But the picture in this thread sure looked like cheapo punched slots to me.

Since Endurance is a Wally World contract filter, will have to go spy on one.

Here's another look of the three oil filters cut open for comparisons.

The AMSOIL EAO11 is from the last/recent oci and I didn't cut the filter media away from the inner tube, the other two oil filters were new when I cut them open.

All three of them look remarkably the same with just the difference in the baseplate on the RP 20-820.

Lol, I posted pics of these further back in this thread with exception of the AMSOIL oil filter ...

Are all 3 newly purchased?

Zooming in I see punched, diagonal louvers on the Royal Purple center tube, not the round holes @Burla has on his inventoried filter. Mike, you be in trouble with newer Royal Purple filters?

The RP 20-820 is ~ a year old, just shy of when they went temporarily extinct late last year and the AMSOIL AEO11 and FRAM FE2 are ~ six months or so, old.

I have a brand new RP 20-820 (~ three months old) that I plan on using on the next oci and it is identical in comparison to the one I cut open in the pics.

I believe you may have just hit on something there about the RP going on an hiatus late last year.

I think a couple guys buy from rp direct...
I just BOUGHT my RP Filters from Walmart on line. I currently have a Fram Ultra on truck, gonna change that out and dump in some Lubeguard on next oil change. It is so hot, U just get that drain down on oil here, so me thinks Lubeguard be good protectorate.

ADDED: Dang truck motor is already at half temp when U start, so all that oil drained down off top of motor since dang temps staying above 100, and 108 today. Guess I be a pre-roasted BOIRD, lmao.

No need to cut open - just look at the inner tube holes. Tell us if they're diagonal slots or round holes.

well, I think half of mine are louvered. If you see the guys who cut open filters on the net, most are impressed with louvers. Now, the sucky thing would be if louvers are smashed down, which sadly there have been some examples of. In theory I like the louvers better as I know they let more oil through then those pin holes, but with those pin holes no risk of obstruction. Yeah, in a perfect world we would have a center tube with larger holes which I have not seen in any filter, like I am saying the general ram forum member can design any filter better then those people who actually design them, sad.

An comparison of the older ~ year old cut open Royal Purple 20-820(on the left) and the newer ~ three month old Royal Purple 20-820(on the right) are exactly the same having the "diagonal slots".
