Hi everyone I am new to the forum and unfortunately my first post will be in regards to a problem with my 2018 power wagon with 22k miles on it. My previous vehicles were a Raptor and then a Hellcat now Power Wagon which I do love but I am not happy with at the moment. I do have an extensive mechanical background and I am prior military. Now onto the issue I am having and I would like your alls input on should I take it to the dealer or not which I do have scheduled for the 30th just in case. So changing the oil I noticed up by were the block meets the head oil starting to weep down towards my oil pan. Now this isn't an amount I see dripping yet but it is definitely wet with oil. Now things to rule out. It's not oil from filling plus it's on the passenger side head, I have no noticeable that I can tell oil or coolant loss at the moment, and I dont see coolant in the oil. Has anyone ever seen this on there 6.4 with only 22k and I am thinking its gotta be the head gasket? I am just disappointed I never beat on this truck I always let it warm up and now this at 22k starting. Needless to say I am let down after owning a Raptor and having about almost a 100k miles on that 6.2 with zero leaks or issues. Like I was saying it's not leaving spots in the driveway yet but its definitely starting to weep down the side. I would like your alls input to keep the dealers appointment and if you all have any suggestions or if you have had this issue thank you.

Yeah it's still under the 3 year 36000 I think it is plus I opted for the 100k bumper to bumper just disappointed is all ya know. I keep telling myself to put it off since it's not dripping but then again for what I paid and how new it is nothing should be dripping or weeping through seals I feel like.

Could be a head gasket, not common at all. Possibly coming from the valley of the engine, I have had MDS solenoids leak from there.
Best way to diagnose it is bring it to the dealer, have them add oil dye, bring it back in about 100 miles for a blacklight test.
Hopefully you have a good dealer or ask around for recommendations of dealers or even specific tech at a dealer.
I don't like tearing any ones truck apart for an oil leak without doing everything possible to pinpoint the source first.
Not to scare you but I had a 6.4 in a Grand Cherokee leaking from the valley that ended up being a porous block.
Never would have figured it out without oil dye and pulling the intake for a black light test.

Check your oil filter. I've had 2 back off and leak if not tightened gorilla tight!
I wish it was that simple but it's all the way in the back of the motor above that also.

Hmmm now you got me thinking about the MDS solenoid I never thought of that. I was wondering if it could be something way up there by the intake manifold running back. It's so hard to see up there. I guess those solenoids are below the intake manifold in the valley? I find it so hard to believe it's a head gasket this early with no symptoms of that. I am definitely going to keep you all updated and I hope its something simple or stupid I love the truck. I appreciate your help and everyone's input.

Just wondering why did you get rid of the hellcat? I'd love to have both. I've got a power wagon and love it. No issues aside from the backup camera freezing on me twice. Next time it does it I'll take it in.

Sadly it's been dry down in Georgia and I haven't been able to really take it out. Cant wait till I can.

I'd take it to the dealer and let ram cares know on this forum about the issue too.

Honestly the car was great zero issues and stupid fast lol. Ok I will say it the wife hated the car and always said I was going to kill myself in it so I let it go for the power wagon. Believe me I wish I could have both and I miss having that car. I also look at the winters bordering PA and wouldn't chance it again. Here is a pic of the car and how do you contact RAMCARES?20180921_192056.jpg

Give your Dealer a chance to fix it first, getting more people involved only complicates things in my opinion.
If they don't resolve your issue to your satisfaction, then get them involved.

See I was thinking that but I just sent a message off. I asked for there advice and let them know my appointment is coming up and it hasn't been in yet so they haven't had a chance. I definitely dont want to go behind my dealer unless they dont want to fix it or something.

i also sold my hellcat charger for my 18 PW. i was between the new raptor and the PW and im very glad i went Ram. i would have broken the raptor by now.
i actually drive my PW like i did the HC and beat on it daily.
at 25k miles, i have not seen this issue, and i just had my 5th oil change.
Ill get under the truck and take a look for any oil residue.

Yeah if you could that would be great. The other side of my head is bone dry like it should be on the driver's side. It's just so wierd that there is oil already. The one guy mentioned an MDS solenoid leaking up top which could be. But then again unless I just cant see it but it looks like its wet along the head gasket for like 5 inches. So even if it did run down it wouldn't be wet heading towards the middle of the head just the back. Yeah I like the RAM more than the Raptor especially the front locker. The 4 wheel drive on the raptor sucked with the plastic hub actuators that broke all the time. Other than that it was very reliable though I will give it that. Definitely miss the hellcat though.

Before wasting time with the dealer I’d spray it down with degreaser and see if it comes back. I say this because I had a similar thing happen. I spilled, no more than a couple tea spoons, of oil down the oil filler spout during my first oil change. Low and behold, a month or so later I had a streak of residue running down the frame in the passenger front wheel well. I would never have thought that tiny amount of oil could make its way all the way over there but it did. Cleaned it all up with a degreaser and it’s never come back.
