I have a 2008 Ram 4.7 flex. I have ran full synthetic religiously from day one. Truck now has 78,000 miles. Not a problem until now. I can start my truck and the oil pressure gauge does not move and the warning light comes on. If I turn the key off and back on real fast with the truck running the gauge will come up to normal and stay normal for the rest of the day. Please help. The warranty just expired back in December and now this starts.

Mine does the same thing. I have the hemi in mine but it only does it first thing in the morning when its cold out. May be an oil sensor issue but Ihavent had time to really check it out.

Mine does it every time it gets started. I'd love to figure it out with out having to pay the garage $80 an hour to twiddle their thumbs.

My 04 with the hemi does the same thing when its cold. It just started doing it around 100k or so I think it was, I bought it with 71k in 08. I had it looked at by a local shop and he couldn't find anything wrong. I took it to a dealership and they said they've seen it before just needed something updated so they they did that still didn't fix it tho. So I've just dealt with having to start twice on really cold mornings since.

I'm sure you have, but have you checked the oil? Any changes in the way the engine runs when it happens?

Sending unit maybe? I wish I could tell you where it was located, but I don't know. My 2nd did that for months and I finally changed the plug and everything went normal.

Find the sending unit and replace it. Thats the cheap fix. Make sure it has oil and to the proper level. Then If its not the sending unit there might be an issue with the oil pump.
