LOL... best one they ever made, and it comes with the oil...baaaaaaaaaa hahahahaha
I checked with my dealer shortly after getting my 2018. They use the Mopar 5w-20 conventional made by Pennzoil. However, I'm considering going with Pennzoil synthetic when I have it changed. My concern with a different weight is how that might impact any warranty if work was needed.
So the OEM oil on the 2018 5.7 HEMI is a NONE synthetic Pennzoil 5w-20 oil? Is this confirmed? Because the Pennzoil website suggests:
Premium Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-20
Standard Pennzoil Gold 5W-20 Synthetic Blend
Alternative Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 Full Synthetic
And that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-20 comes back as a fully synthetic EVERYWHERE I look.
The oil that FCA made in tandem with Pennzoil specifically for the hemi is PUP 0w40, high moly, high detergency, clean base fluid, synthetic oil. What ever oil hemi owners choose, they should at least use that formula as a guide. There are very specific reasons they use this type of oil in an application that has lubrication issues.
According to redline the 5/20 meets the 5.7 standards and I believe the 0/40 meets the 6.4 standards. ( I'm not sure what the specific ms number is for the 6.4). Either way just go to redline website, select the oil you want to look at, then go to OEM specs and it will give you a list.Does Redline 5w30 fulfill that standard?
