I stumbled across some old parts manuals for dodge / Chrysler stuff from back in the 1940s through to the late 1950s. Anyone know if they have value or are they fireplace log material.

I can't speak of cars / trucks, other than my own interest, and I dont have anything that old. I did find a manual for my '79 Scottsdale - cheap enough. I once sold a WWI US Military rifle and got almost a quarter of the price more for a minty, rare manual. If they are yours, post for sale and see what the traffic will bear.

Yes, they are mine, they have been sitting on a shelf for years and completely forgotten. some are in good condition considering that they are almost 80 years old. One though is missing its cover completely and it is the repair manual and parts for the old flat head industrial engine.
Any suggestion where I should start for "asking price?"

To the right person they are valuable, to most people they are worthless. Your local car club or on the web would be a good places to sell them.
As for value, most manuals go for 50 to 100 dollars to the right buyer.
Thanks!

I would've donated them to a local library (if you still have those, we do lol).
Doing donations to libraries and museums can be a headache. I once offered a log book from an in land lake ship that plied the lake back in the 1930s. They weren't interested.
I offered some original furniture to a museum that came from an old house, furniture that was made in around 1915. They weren't interested. Both of them will likely end up in a fire pit.

That's terrible on their part. Besides extensive hands on, growing up I learned alot from the automotive sections of our county library system (all our libraries in Atlantic County were networked together, which was unusual back then).
Now the logbook is less library and more museum archive material.

Well, I donated them all to the local land fill. Couldn't get even a 5 cent offer.

The NGPL seemed to keep those sorts of things around, but who knows.
If you find anything like that, send me a note, and I will ask them if they're interested.

I hate to hear of those historical relics disappearing.

I, too, really hate to discard stuff like that but I couldn't generate any interest at any price. We are starting to clean things up as best that we can so those in charge of the final cleanup will have an easier job.
I just threw out a bunch of automotive text books, some that were issued as part of my former employment. That hurt!
But, getting older, things need to be cleaned up.
