Truck was interment crank no start. Progressively got worse, would die while driving. Finally left me stranded, was diagnosed as fuel pump relay, fuel pump, and starter. Ran fine for a few months. Same thing, random dying, etc. Had to be towed to another shop, this one was 60 miles from home. Fuel pump was replaced again. Ran fine again another 2 months, here we are again. When the second pump was replaced we were told there was a tube that goes to the gas tank that was "clogged with dirt, won't affect anything but set off a CEL" Codes are p0441 and p0456. Gascap warning has been on dash awhile as well, started a week or so after fuel pump replaced. Got stranded once again, relay tested ok, connector shows power with key turned on. Relay clicks on/off with key turn. Could it be another fuel pump? It seems a bit crazy to think that not only the OEM, but now 2 more fuel pumps have failed? The first replacement was a cheapo from Amazon, the second, thats in the truck now, is a Delphi. I did notice a hose snapped off on what was called a roller valve? picture attached of before and after repair. I had hoped that was causing the problem but no such luck. At a loss, truck is parked at a Kroger and hour away. Hoping to get it onto a trailer and towed home this coming week

I'm a professional with my own shop; 48 years doing this. Recently, Delphi fuel pumps have been absolute junk for me. Repeat failures with fuel pumps JUST like you describe. This is a first for me with Delphi. But, after the pandemic, the world continues to amaze, albeit not always in a good way!

Whomever advised you to ignore the EVAP issues did you no favors, though. This is an entire system, and ignoring it is a bad thing.... AND FYI, you thinking that you can scan for other codes "as a precaution" while other emission related DTC's are current, is not going to happen. Monitors are suspended for non continuous I/M's.

Fix the problems CORRECTLY and fix it for good!
