Optima red top hold down

I just swapped my 8004-003 red top from my cherokee to my 07 ram. The part # is the same but the optima is much smaller! When the stock hold down is bolted down it won't hold on its own. Any help would be appricated.

When i put mine in i put the battery close to the fender side of the battery tray and tightened the clamp down to where it barely caught the bottom lip of the battery. And after connecting the cables it was secured, It doesn't move a bit. I figure if i ever role the truck it might pop out but lets hope that doesn't happen to anyone. They do make billet battery hold downs for the optima battery. Here's an example:

Yeah I saw those. I'm not going to spend $100+ on it though. I wasn't sure if Optima offered a different mounting bracket that came with it originally. I've had my Optima in my XJ since before they raised the prices to $200 which has to be about 7 years now. Couldn't remember if other stuff came with it or not.

I just cut some rubber hose to length and split it down the middle and slid it over the hold down. Seems to be sturdy enough.

Whatever it takes to make it work. I agree with you on the price i wouldn't pay that much for that unless i was trying to chrome my engine bay out. But i would still look for a cheaper alternative.

I can't remember. Do they come with an install kit of some sort when you buy them new?

Here's the one I put in my Ram. It's made for these batteries. Only thing is you have to mount it and paint it. $65 isn't to bad.
