Ordered a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks

Where exactly are you guys cutting on the top shaft? Above or below the big washer? If I go below do I go through the rubber bushing? Problem with going above I see is getting under the nut since that washer is con-caved.
For the rears I cut right through the rubber bushing.

following this with some interest. My google-fu is weak, however.

Starting with the Bilstein website, I came up with a set of numbers for front/rears (2018 2500 HD 4WD standard height, NO lift).

Looked for those same parts on the usual other sites like Rockauto, Amazon, some of the ones mentioned here, couldn't find those part numbers, which is weird.

This last trip to-from my place in TN from MD was like riding a short skiff in 4-5 foot chop. Not only are the roads going to perdition all over the place, I'm pretty sure my shocks are going bad (no, not leaking, just a LOT of bounce) at 75k miles.


So, question, which EXACT part numbers for the 5100's, or, considering everyone says the ride is stiff, the 4600's.

Appreciate the help.

This is what I purchased. They are for 2-2.5 up front and 0-1 in the rear.

Finally installed the rears. They were a pain but once started cutting it wasn’t too bad. Definitely cutting at an angle through the nut did the trick. Tried going through the rubber bushing but seemed to take a little longer but it would work either way you go. It was all of about 1-1.5 hour for both sides.

Honestly I think it’s an improvement over my stock shocks. My stocks did have 155k on them so they were pretty worn out. Driving around town it’s kinda hard to tell the difference at slower speeds but once I get it out on the highway where I can get it up to higher speeds and hitting some of the potholes we have I think they will shine. I will update it more once I get some miles on them and hit some rougher roads or terrain.

I've had a set on my 3500 for about 10k miles now. They started out a bit rough but have smoothed out into a really good ride over the stockers.

I've had a set on my 3500 for about 10k miles now. They started out a bit rough but have smoothed out into a really good ride over the stockers.
So far I have found they ride much better at higher speeds. They definitely rebound better when I hit pot holes.
