I'm talking to a dealer and told him I wanted the ORP with 20" wheels and he stated I could only get the 18" so I went and built a truck on Ram's website and it's stating I can have the 20" wheels. I feel like this dealer is pushing me towards what they have in stock not trying to find what I want because when I first contacted him I asked about Big Horns with the ORP and he tried to sell me a rebel.... great truck but no. I'd rather not wait to order a truck. Just wondering if what the dealer is saying is true.

if you go to 2019 brochure it will state that the ORG modifies the tires to OWL AT optional 20" on Big HornORP.PNG

Could only go with an 18" wheel why? Were they trying to tell you it wasn't physically possible or that it wasn't an option to get those specific 20's on a big horn? If its the latter, between DanBen's post and your online build, I'd call ******** on them or find another dealer. Even if its the former, I'm pretty sure there's no physical restrictions to putting 20's on there.

I think you are correct, he/she wants to sell you something in stock. Less work for him/her.

There is no physical restrictions, the sales rep just said I couldn't have 20's and the ORP. If I wanted the ORP it only came with 18" wheels from the factory. What he was really saying was "I don't have that configuration on my lot, but here is a truck you should buy." So I sent him the link from my online built and he said "I don't want to say the Ram build site is wrong but..." he did say he checked in a 100 miles radius to find a truck the way I built it online and he couldn't find one. Other than a standard big horn all I want is the ORP, 20", 3.92 gears and a remote start. Not even too concerned on color.

Actually I think the truth of the matter is that he didn't want to spend time to find one. He stated they just started their president's day sale and were very busy. I guess it didn't matter that I told him I'd come buy it if they could find the truck with the options I wanted. I've already tested driven a 5th gen, it's just a matter of finding what I want. Here is the built. I'm not looking for anything too fancy.

Hmm... just recieved an email that they have one on their lot but it's a black out edition. Like I said I'm not picky on color but I don't want a black or blacked out edition. Between winter salt and dirt roads that truck would never be clean. Also, it's more than $5k than the truck I built.

I agree that sounds exactly like what he is saying, kind of sounds typical of most dealers and I guess they have to push what they have but when you have someone saying they wont settle for anything other than exactly what they want, I wish they would respect that.

Agree here too, I wouldn't want another black truck again either for the same reasons. I would search for it yourself and if you have to, travel for the right truck/deal cause I'm sure it is out there. I'm on my last regular cab now but the closest I found either of my last 2 trucks was a 5 hour drive from me, but it was worth it because I got the exact truck I wanted.

When I was shopping for my Ram I used the Ram website that let me build my configuration and check for any matching exactly or closely in any geographical area I wanted. You just need to plug in the zip code for the location and specify how far to search and you can find the truck you want at a dealer on your own. You can either have your local dealer to get that truck for you from that other dealer at a good price or go directly to that dealer who has the truck and possibly get a better deal since it is on their lot.

You can do a lot of shopping to find your truck online then call that dealer to get your best price before you even have to drive and look. Some dealer will post their best price as their internet price to get people interested. Most dealers will email you their best price in writing and hold the truck for you until you can come in and test drive.

I literally looked at hundreds of trucks and checked out best deals until I found the perfect truck for me at a good price - drove a little distance but ended up very satisfied.

Kind of a pain not having the selling dealer doing the service and warranty work, they aren't as committed - but still get Ram service at any dealer.

The blackout edition may have more options, hints 5k more.

Regardless, buyers remorse is the worsed. I went through that with my second RAM.. Now I spend hours scouting dealers across state lines on the web to find what I want. One long trip is a small sacrifice for the money and time you’re spending in the truck. Just keep any extended warranty / maintenance plan with Chrysler, so you can take it to any dealer without hassle. Aftermarket ones are a nightmare.

The dealer in question just happens to be the closest to me and the one I've serviced my current Ram with. I did not buy my current truck there so there isn't any loyalty. Appreciate the info guys, I'll keep looking. And yes the Blacked out edition as some additional options that I don't want/need.

Although dealers want to sell you a truck, they’ll appreciate your business in the service department. They won’t care where you got it from. If they do I’d find a new service department lol.
