I have a 2011 ram 2500 with the 5.7 hemi 4x4 ST model. Within the last year I have replaced my water pump, radiator, clutch fan, and thermostat. In town if I leave the truck running on a day that is around 75 degrees and just sitting at idle my temps take off like into 220 plus. What in the world am I missing? I have plenty of fluid in radiator and in reserve tank. When the truck is off and cold if I try to spin the fan as soon as I let go it stops. Only thing I haven’t done it a pressure test but my fluids are all there and I haven’t added any since doing all the work. Thoughts?

How do you test to see if it’s working? With clutch fan in the way I couldn’t be certain one way or another

hopefully the radiator is full & the overflow tank is filled no higher than the Max line

The radiator cap should be the correct Mopar cap, nothing aftermarket

Start it and turn your a/c on to max and it should come on within about 1 minute. It's loud enough to hear it.

so the electric fan never kicked on! I am on rockauto trying to find a replacement but there are two different fan that say they kinda look the same but not interchangeable one says it’s a heat and air conditioning fan assembly and the other says cooling system fan assembly. Which do I get they both look the same to me but have different part numbers

Check your relays in the fuse box under the hood first, (black square boxes) switch the one for the fan with another one, there are several that are the same. I'll look when I get a chance to see which one but I'm pretty sure it'll be the one for the a/c.

You may also want to google checking the fan and watch a video to help you see what you're looking for. Seeing visually helps a lot.

I hook a fused jumper wire from battery to fan motor and nothing happened so I ordered new fan assembly (hopefully the right one)

this issue has been an ongoing nightmare and I also ordered a new radiator cap just because so if this doesn’t do I might freak out lol fingers crossed will update when parts come in and I install them thanks for the help fellas

Good luck. I believe the fan will fix it, just hoping it's only the fan and not anything deeper such as a wiring issue.

I hope that you ordered the fan for the
cooling system fan assembly

The heat and air conditioning fan assembly is inside of the Cab & has nothing to do with what goes on under the Rams hood

Alright put in cooling fan in kicked on ac and it spun for a second then kicked right back off! Will it only come on when engine needs extra help to cool? I figured it would spin anything after was on?

Let it idle till it gets hot, should definitely come on by 210 degrees but usually comes on with a/c on. Let it get hot to see if it will come on by itself first.

I think it’s to cool here for it to start overheating....I let it run it got to 206 and dropped right down to 195 after t-stat opened.

Ok, If you haven't already you might want to try switching the fan relay with another one like it just to see. I'll check back a little later to see if I can possibly help if that doesn't work. I would also drive it or put it in whatever situation it overheated before to make sure.

I am currently trying to find where the relay is. It isn’t in the fuse box under hood so trying to trace it out I was going to look at that to
