I have a 2005 Ram 1500 only has 83,000 miles on it here is the problem. Last week the temp gauge went up and i noticed the coolant was low. I filled it with coolant and went about my business. Couple days later the temp gauge went up past halfway and the heater wasnt as cold when idling as it should be ( it was -9 that morning) The truck does not seem to be running hot but the gauge says it is. What could be the issue?

Is it low on coolant again? You should figure out where it is going. Check the oil and make sure it isn't getting in there.

OK. Assuming the gauge and temp sender is accurate, it sounds like your thermostat could be acting up.

I've never done one on a 4.7. Usually not a big deal, provided you can reach it without taking too much stuff out of the way. Maybe someone that has done it will chime in.

I just did a waterpump on mine at 92k. When I removed the t-stat it was in bad shape. Two bolts and it's out, could be an easy fix...
