I washed my truck (22 2500 Ltd Longhorn) yesterday. I do that quite a bit as the black metallic paint shows dirt pretty easily. Anyway, after I was done, I was Ceramic waxing the hood and noticed what looks like little air bubbles. Anyone seen this or know what it is? I need to check the roof better, to see if it shows any of that, but I think it's just the hood. Never been in any winter salt, never been through a car wash, never been pressure washed.

Truck has 14K miles, lives in a fully enclosed building. I feel I take very good care of my stuff, so this is a bit disappointing.

Looks like a defect in the clear coat. Are any of them raised up? I can't say definitively what might have caused it, could have been factory and just took time to develop. But, since it seems you never noticed before and appear to keep aware of things I might more think something got on the paint, but would think it should also impact the roof if that is the case.

Can you feel them, or are they flat? Have you tried a clay bar? It works wonders on clearcoat.

Had to get the truck out of the RV building to haul the tractor yesterday. Wife was brush hogging for a friend of hers. Anyway, the roof does not show these spots. Will try to get into the dealer for a look-see next week. Anyone know how long the paint warranty is? Truck will be 2 years old in October.

Hard to tell from a picture. Looks like something way sprayed on the hood.

It's below the clear coat and, as I said, you can't feel them. And if something were sprayed that caused this, why only the hood?

Sent some pictures to a friend that owns a body shop up north. Said he will run it by his paint guy today.

Paint guy says "it looks like the clear is getting ready to peel up, if you can't feel it." He also gave me info on a Ram bulletin about this. It has to do with corrosion on the edges, which mine has none of. Was surprised to learn the hood is aluminum. TSB 31-001-24, Group 31

Took it to the dealer. Closest one does not have a body shop, so had to schedule with one further away. Was happy to find out the paint warranty is 3/36. My truck will be 2 years old next month, and only 15K on it, so I'm good that way. Anyway, the dealer bodyshop said he will submit it as clear coat coming loose, or something like that.

Hoping I don't have to fight Ram to get this fixed.

Just an update. Dealer says it will be covered, but they had to take some more pictures (indoor for some reason) before getting final approval. So did that yesterday. Should hear in about a week. So far, looks like I won't have to fight them on it. Sure glad I have a low mileage truck. If I'd been outside of the 3/36, it would not be covered.

Just to wrap this up. No hassles at all getting the hood repainted. Honestly, I was expecting some. Picked the truck up Thursday. Work looks good so far. All covered under warranty.

Only complaint is that they ran it through brush type car wash, and now it has some swirls on the sides. I have only hand washed it since new, so kind of a ******. Will have to do another paint correction on it now. And they put some kind of sidewall shine product on the tires, which I never do. But I guess I have to give them credit for trying.
