Good day,
Has anyone used any type of black paint on their tires, instead of a cleaner? If so, how has it held up?

Up until a year ago I painted all of my tires with a gloss black epoxy paint. It acutally held up pretty well in the Texas summers. I would paint my tires two or three times a year to keep them glossy. The main reason for the black paint for me was so that the letters would stand out more when painted white.

I would always remove the wheels from the truck for their first application of the black paint and to paint the letters. Once they were back on the truck, if it wasn't time for a rotation, I would leave them on the truck and I used and old blanket or sheet to drape of the bed or the fenders to keep the overspray off of the truck.

I never tried paint and was thinking about doing it. How does it hold up in the winter?
We have -30 to -40+ up here in Northern Ontario.

Not sure the look you're going for... Back when I was a teenager (80s), for our muscle cars (wannabe) we used a sugar water solution. Dilute couple cups of sugar in the water 1/2 gallon... Use a paint brush to apply. You can add / subtract as needed.

Cheap and easy - - you'll have it apply often. This gave our tires a nice shine.

To me this is much easier than painting.

I’m not looking for any type of look, just checking if the paint method is better/longer lasting than tire cleaner. But the sugar and water solution, never tried! I may just try that, to say I’ve tried it!

Thanks.
