New Ram owner, first time post. I recently purchased a 2011 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 5.7 4x4. The other day, my son drove it, parked it, BUT left the truck in Drive (he had set the parking brake), shut off the engine, and pulled the FOBIK out of the wireless ignition node (WIN) receptacle in the dash. Not sure how he managed that…

When I saw this, I shifted the truck into Neutral (it has a floor sifter/console), inserted the FOBIK, and started it up. It ran and drove just fine, with one exception. When I started it, I heard a strange high-pitched alarm-like noise blaring out from inside the dash, somewhere near the instrument cluster or the WIN. It lasts for 10-15 seconds. It is not the typical warning chime you hear if you haven’t buckled your seatbelt nor is it the horn chirping or going off. Also, there are no warning lights, etc. that come on when this happens. Since then, this strange beeping noise comes on every the truck is started up. I’ve disconnected the battery in an effort to reset everything, and I’ve even used duplicate FOBIKs that came with the truck to start it. Same result. I’ve scoured this forum and looked online and can’t find anything on this issue. As I said, the truck runs and operates just fine other than this beeping noise. FWIW, the truck has remote start in addition to remote keyless entry, both of which continue to work just fine.

Any ideas and/or has someone else experienced this before, and if so, what might the solution be?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Try disconnecting the radio, then disconnect the battery for a while and turn on some things like fan you ensure everything is discharged. Then hook up battery and start. If sound is gone it could be things like a setting that beeps when favorited artist or song comes in radio. Some type of proximity sensor, etc. can't say why it is happening now, but might be the problem.

Well, looks like it's all good. Did the above and the beeping noise disappeared after several on-off key cycles while driving the truck around town. Thanks!

That's a strange one. Glad you got it fixed. Those WIN modules are a source of issues. The contacts in the back of the part you put your key into get dirty/bent/etc. Many forum users say 'don't use a heavy keychain' ...that it helps prevent flexing of the rotating part of the WIN module. Just passing that along. Maybe yours has already been 'dealt with' already too....
