So I've noticed my parking sensors sometimes don't beep when getting close to stuff, and sometimes they do beep. Anyone else had this issue? I think I'll drop it off at the dealership next week but want to be sure it's not just me or are they only supposed to beep under certain circumstances?

Was in the same place you were with a 2015 RAM that I no longer own. I actually pointed out the quirkinesses during the test drive and delivery.

I don’t think you actually have a problem.

Before you waste your time at the dealer, have someone approach the corners and center of each bumper and and see if your getting the expected indication. The dealer will only perform the same test, and if the issue can’t be repeated they’re going to tell you working as designed.

Thanks for the info. It's actually going in for something else so thought they could check this out as well. I noticed when getting close to other cars while parking that sometimes it would beep and sometimes it wouldn't. Im not really sure why it won't beep though but seems to me it should always beep.

Yep, in traffic I did the same. Constantly testing it to figure it out. I think there’s a relationship between the vehicle moving and the sensor alerts and indicators.

Think of the use case, no one wants an audible alert if they are sitting in traffic and too close to the vehicle in front or behind.

My issue, contrary to the OP is that the rear driver side sensor always turns on, regardless if there's something present or not. I switched sensor positions multiple times, and it still beeps, so I disregarded a faulty sensor. Maybe it is a wire short, or the like... I still need to further investigate though...

Hi nachonator,
We're sorry to hear about this! We suggest having your dealer look into this if it continues to happen. You may also send us a private message and we will gladly assist with this process.

To update my situation, the dealership checked it out and said they're working as intended, so I guess they are.

Lydia, @RamCares , I suggest you do something about the dealerships... Taken it twice, and they said they are working as intended... Same as above posters, and pretty much all responders in this thread....

I found this info in the owners manual..... hope it helps!!!

ParkSense can be active only when the gear
selector is in REVERSE or DRIVE. If
ParkSense is enabled at one of these gear
selector positions, the system will remain
active until the vehicle speed is increased to
approximately 7 mph (11 km/h) or above. A
warning will appear in the instrument cluster
display indicating the vehicle is above
ParkSense operating speed. The system will
become active again if the vehicle speed is
decreased to speeds less than approximately
6 mph (9 km/h).
