So I put my Hid's in about half a year ago and they've been working fine but all of a sudden the passenger side hid started flipping out when I turned my truck on. I also noticed that my tps sensors started acting all funny at around the same time as to where it used to not work for a few seconds when my lights came on but now is beeping at me and sending messages through the gauge cluster. Could there be a relation to the two problems or does it sound like my ballast is going bad? They are from retro solutions...

It really bothers me that something on my truck isn't working when I tried to buy all the best parts so any help would be very appreciated.

I have heard that the ballast from hids would interfere with the tpms, so it's a good possibility that the ballast is going bad or you have a loose connection which is causing the ballast to interfere with the tpms

pull the plug on the ballast, if its brown and crusty, you've got the corrosion.....

Was dielectric used on the install?

Yea but I may have not used enough, I was very conservative with it bc I wasn't sure

And is there any way to fix that or do I need a new ballast if that's the case?

if there is corrosion on the plugs, you MAY get by with cleaning it and reapplying grease. But, what it sounds like to me is that its not getting adequate power as the corrosion prevents the proper flow.

If not......you may need a new harness, ballast or both.

Biggest issue I've seen with HIDs......corrosion. Lack of power will then cause issues, well, like you are seeing here.

Also check your capacitor. Sometimes those die (again, corrosion). If you turn off your truck, flip the lights on.......let them warm up and then turn them off, how long does it take for the lights to actually turn off?

Appreciate it JJ, and I'm taking 18 hours this semester in college so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it but ill let you know for sure.

Chaney: that's crazy man if it's not what JJ said something must be up with these set ups

keep in mind, chaney isn't running the required parts on his setup........not sure why, his truck didn't like a simple capacitor - not sure on that......but the cap keeps things from flickering on the 4th gen quads......

Hate to say it this way, no cap, expect a flicker. Might have worked for a short time, but its bound to happen.

Would the capacitor have come with the kit?

I wouldn't doubt it. It was just ironic when I put my new rims on. It started a couple days after that. Maybe that also changed the orientation? Maybe the wireless unit that is reading the sensor on the stems is already reading weird and the HIDS aren't helping... hmmm Over the last two weeks it has gotten worse. At night when I have my lights on auto it doesn't do it 99% of the time. When I am during the day, when it is a little foggy and dark, but the auto light function doesn't turn them on, and I switch it to auto... That is when 90% of the time it does it to me.

I am just said screw it...

Auto..........turn them on when you need them man.

Sensors......I ran without sensors for almost a year. With my new wheels and tires, I got some sensors on eBay. No issues at ALL with those.

Would the capacitor have come with the kit?

yup, as long as it was ordered as a 09+ Quad kit

I ordered it for quads but it for the recon headlights so it was a different bulb, should that make a difference?

Also I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, I'm not too educated in this area
