Just thought I would share my findings. Since upgrading to a Pixel 2 XL I slowly lost bluetooth functionality with my 8.4AN. First, when using any media app like Pandora or iHeartRadio, there would be no song information displayed on the 8.4. It would just show the phone name. Steering wheel controls functionality still worked though, so changing songs didn't require picking up the phone. After either an Android or uConnect update I lost steering wheel controls. This really pissed me off as I didn't want to have to fumble with my phone while driving. Or, at least keep it to a minimum.
I did find a fix that brought bluetooth functionality completely back. On your phone go to Settings -> System -> About Phone and tap on "Build Number" I believe 7 times. It'll count down how many times you need to tap in order to unlock "Developer Options".
Now, go back to System and you should see Developer Options listed there. Go in there and scroll down till you see "Bluetooth AVRCP Version" and change that option to "AVRCP 1.3".
Delete and re-pair your phone with the headunit.
You should now see song info and regain full use of steering wheel controls.
