Hey Guys,

Another plasti dip thread as I have some questions.

I know how it works and a lot of people like how the product performs. Questions are:

1. Is the finish more of a matte finish.
2. Can you treat this after application with a UV product like for Herculiner or us a clear coat on it to make it more of a semi-gloss finish.

What I'm worried about is I am planning on using Herculiner on my fender flares and rockers. That product will have more of a semi-gloss finish on it. If I use the plasti-dip on my grill, emblems, and door handles, they might not match that well. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have heard you can use tire foam spray to wipe on them to make it more glossy. I believe ramhunter was getting ready to spray his wheels and he has herculiner, maybe he has this mod done but not sure

I don't believe you can use a clear on plasti-dip...it just won't stick. The finish is a little rough..almost skid resistant I'd say (although I've never tested that).

One thing that's great about it, is if you don't like the outcome or how it looks, you can peel it off. I did a writeup on another forum about how easy it is to take off. Here's a pic - I had it sprayed on my wheels for over 3 months and only took it off to make selling them easier.

And on Monday I just sprayed the wheels on my 4 wheeler with PD. I still love the stuff!

It's definitely a matte finish. I've also heard of people using the tire foam for a little gloss but I haven't tried it

how is it holding up on the rear bumper? I've been contemplating do it on mine. Either that or black VHT. Gives it a nice black chrome look.

I like how that looks on your door handles and gate latch. My truck is an 06 and I have a hard time keeping them looking nice. Outside of painting them, I think this is the best alternative. Tire foam on this surface would look nice but it would attract dust.

So far so good. I also did the front about a month earlier and haven't had any issues out of either. They've been sprayed and scrubbed at a car wash and still look good

Thanks man. I actually didn't paint the tailgate handle lol. It just hasn't faded nearly as bad as the doors but they are almost a perfect match as-is. They're holding up good. No nicks or anything in either one

I use tire foam on mine it looks really good with it. Just when you put the tire shine on, make sure you get all of the plasti dip areas. Theres a big difference when you miss a spot.

Have any of you guys tried putting the UV treatment for a product like Herculiner on it? I'm thinking that would work also as the Herculiner has some rubber compound in it.

It's actually not a clear coat product to go over the black. It's a clear rubberized coverage just like the black. They specifically said that they are developing a product to spray over the plasti-dip for a clear coat.
