Plasti dip rims/ remove covers?

I am going to fall in line with the masses and blackout my rims. My question, should I remove and discard the plastic covers and dip the bare metal or leave the covers on?

Leave the covers on. If you don’t like it, just peel it off and take the covers off. Stuff is easy to work with.

How long does the Plastic dip last on the rims or on other blacked out items? Can't wait to see pictures when your done. I too am doing it once Spring arrives
