I just bought this truck and I'm already regretting it due to the idle and engine hours on the truck I didn't realize it had.
So I find this trip on the dash options (pic attached)... from my math they where doing 77 mph on this trip... is my math wrong ?

My main issue with this is the truck has 33,343 miles with 840 idle hours , 1361 drive hours (making avg 25mph)... with that trip... stuff isn't adding up to me... something smells funny

Any thoughts?

I don't see a problem

I don't clear my Trip B mileage, until an oil change is done

I don't even look at the Idle Hours, if i sit parked & it is very chilly or very hot, my engine is running, there are times that my Ram sits idling for hours

There is no way to look at the Instrument Cluster & decipher it, unless the original owner was there to explain it, or there was documentation.

IDLE Hours can be cleared, without human interaction, that is one of the odd things that happens with our Rams

I wouldn't worry about that stuff either. My 18 Ram 2500 Cummins was bought as a Certified Pre-owned truck. It was 2 years old with 14K on it. Idle time was kind of high, but I didn't care. Plenty of warranty left. Was a great truck. Just clear all that stuff and drive it.

Don’t worry about all that bs if she runs and drives good then that’s all you need to worry about. i live in New York and at 2200 miles I have 86 idle hours. By the time this thing has 60k it’s go to be idling an eternity lol.

I never fret over idle hours. If my Ram needs to idle, no bigeye by me.

Suggest reset the trip odometers. Then IGNORE. I have never paid attention to Trip A or Trip B. Miles remaining in my tank matters. Oil life matters...

Personally, if I were in NY, I'd be more concerned with pizza.

Best of luck with your Ram. 33,343 on a 2020, is nice low number.

If it's like a 4th Gen it might reset the idle hours in awhile.
I had like 1100 idle hours one time, which was B.S as my truck hardly ever idled, then about a week or so later it all of a sudden had 48 idle hours, which was more in line with what i figured it might of had.
Why or how it reset,i've never figured out,but it's not an uncommon issue in the 4th Gens.

One question, that i would have to ask of Rams Engineers ..

Is Idle time just added up when the vehicles transmission is in Park or Neutral ?

Or does sitting in traffic, like from an accident, where you are sometimes only moving a couple of feet at a time, with the transmission in Drive, does that also count as idle time ?

I would think it is only when your speed-o reads 0 MPH.

As I understand it if the truck is running but not moving i.e. sitting in the drive-thru line waiting for your morning coffee or the stop sign/light it counts as Idle time...

Well, 11.2 MPG jives with 77 MPH...
