hey fella's,

well like the title says, has anyone tried this ?. As much as I would love to upgrade alot of area's of my truck. I dont have the money to go all out on dynamat etc etc. was curious to see if anyone has used poly fill in the doors behind a factory or aftermarket 6x9 ????? even without an amp ?.

a buddy of mine has a stock 2012 Jeep JKU, and recently poly filled the sound bar on his jeep, and said it made a huge difference. he said it really helped control the vibrations in the sound bar. figured this could be applicable to our door speakers, and a really cheap ( I know its not the best way ) way to slightly improve the oem sound ? figured it could help reduce the door vibrations a little, and provide a more accurate bass punch.

Yea, I think baffles behind the 6x9's might be a good idea. As soon as I clear up some funds, I'm thinking about rewiring everything and put baffles behind the Alpine 6x9's. Heck they sound pretty dang good even with thunderform with 10" sub's turned off. But 6x9's definitely will sound better in a box of sorts.

Interesting thought... I have yet to take my doors off yet so I can't comment but it can't hurt as long as you can keep it out of the window tracks.

I have heard, but can't confirm that Baffles do not work very well in door speakers. Just figured the poly fill is used to trick a sub into thinking it is playing in a larger space to help give it some added performance in a smaller space. Thought this could be applicable in the doors also

No. It will fill up with water, get moldy and stink.

Do not do that.... Water and moisture gets in the door and will turn polyfill into basically a wet diaper. They make back wave diffusers for speakers. U just stick it on the door behind the speaker but I have heard conflicting reviews about them.

Deadener can be had fairly cheap for just enough to do the doors. Or 1 or two sheets put behind the speaker in the door will help a little bit also.

Yea like others have said...not a good idea. There are many companies that produce speaker dampening pads that go right behind the speaker...these pads will help tame standing waves and should fit the bill nicely...

Find a rubber (not asphalt) based material like Dynamat. It's less expensive than dynamat, even if you do double layers.
