I have a 2014 dodge 3500 with Cummins and my blower fan output is getting very poor. It’s never been great, but lately seems worse than ever. I pulled the fan out and plugged it in but it seems ok. Looked up at my outside air blend door and it seems ok. Any ideas? Thanks

How many miles are on the truck now? Do you allow your pets into the vehicle? Did your truck come from the factory with a cabin air filter?

Cabin filters from the factory started with the late '16 models. A '14 will have the outline for the opening and the "shelf" inside to hold the filter, but you need to cut the opening out and get a door. It's a simple, cheap process but a clogged filter would not be the OP's issue, unless of course he's already done the mod...

OP: Did you check the outside vent under the windshield? That can get clogged up with leaves, pine needles, acorn husks, etc. I clean mine out with a shop vac periodically.

As many of these trucks I have worked on over the years, barring a mechanical issue in the HVAC Housing I would inspect the evaporator so see if it's covered in lint, dirt and dog hair and mixed with the condensation from the A/C to make a nice brown paste to cover the evaporator and restrict the airflow.

How does one check the evaporator? Can it be cleaned with out disassembling the HVAC?

I'd like to ask here, I have a 2010 2500. fan blows fine on cool but when moved to heating, you cna hear the doors move around and then the air flow is weak on heat. switch it back to cool and blows fine. doesnt matter which set of vents I move to, same result. so is there a door that moves air between the heater core and evaporator that could be stuck and is restricting air flow while in heat mode? thats the only thing that makes sense to me, unless there is some other complication to the vent controllers that could cause this. when i cut out opening to add cabin filter, fan was free and spinning well. nothing clogging in the recirc area and like i said, blows fine while cooling, just not so well on heat mode. thanks
