Andrew you're on a few of the facebook pages, hit up Jason about his TB. I think he starts with a new 251 throttle body, but you'd have to ask him about doing his magic on a used one.

Just joined that FB page today. Will ask. Any chance to save money would be worth it. Sitting at home staring at my truck I have a big itch to add some new parts.

Update / FYI:

I asked Dan (Fastman) about this and he stated the following:

"Your motor can only use so much air...
Giving it more than it can use just takes a way lowend Torque...
Now you get a motor that is lazy until the rpms get up before it responds
like it should."

Personally I believe I will probably go with the 82mm bore since I drive pretty much nothing but city to get to work and back. The lowend torque is definitely the thing I would lean towards. I wish there was dyno charts of all this lol Plus I could keep my stock TB since I don't plan on doing a convertor / cam or anything crazy within the next couple years I could always send off my stock one and sell this one.

Without full bolt ons and a decent cam/head work, the factory 80mm bore flows plenty. The intake/TB are usually the last modifications people make to squeeze every last bit out of these HEMI engines.

Yeah I can understand that. In my case I'm trying to do the best bang for the buck without going way over. Not comfortable installng headers myself so (never done anything like that I)'ll have to get that done by someone else and that can get pretty pricy for good shorties and install. And exhaust alone won't do much. And with me having a CAI and a ecm and tcm tune this seems like the next best step. Especially with a dyno sheet with Moe's ported saying 15 wheel gain with stock engine.

A custom tune and long tube headers with give you more performance than most other bolt-on mod's---not including a supercharger, turbo charger or funny gas.

I plan on going shorties. I want longtubes but from what I've heard and read they can be pretty loud even with a bigger muffler (I can't stand a loud exhaust) . Plus a good set of LTs can cost over a grand then a few hundred atleast for install on top of that. Just too much at one time right now for me. Got lucky with some extra money and this is easy bolt on / bang for the buck I got lol

Long tubes are definitely louder--especially if you get the ones w/o cats. I have the ARH long tubes with cats and they are plenty loud--especially for an old guy like me--LOL

Well how about that!? I can definitely have a used throttle body cnc'd and it will perform as if new. Possibly even a little better since everything is already loosened up and worn in. Lol! You can always shoot me an email at [email protected] or holler at me on Facebook. Don't forget to check out High Performance Rams on Facebook as well.

Shorties and the stock sport exhaust sounds good- boosted motor sports did a video on that set up

Oh yeah he did! He did the 18" b2 fab. I wanna go with high flow cats and a magnaflow 22" or 24" setup. I would also like a cutout for those random times I do wanna be extra loud.

Pick the cut out carefully---Lots and lots of them have problems and the motors don't last very long.

I have a Moe's 87mm ported TB. This is the second 4th gen truck I have had it installed on. I have never had a problem with the throttle body and have noticed a noticeable increase in the performance of both trucks. I had the TB in conjunction with the other mod's I had installed. IMHO if you install a larger TB without supporting mod's I think you will see much less of an increase in performance.

Any say on how a larger TB pairs up with supercharging on our hemis? Would you say it’s worth while to go larger when boosting?

That's usually where the bigger throttle body does work better. There's a few guys going all the way up to the Hellcat throttle body on their boosted trucks, but it does entail a little more work then using a throttle body from say Dan at Fastman or one of the ported stock versions, that are a straight plug-n-play throttle body

Gotcha. I was told by my local shop not to get one but figured I’d ask around and see.

My only concern with a larger TB is need a intake manifold with a larger intake diameter to accommodate. I don’t see how just swapping a 90mm hellcat TB onto a 85mm intake opening will do anything beneficial compared to running a true 85mm bore TB unless you port the intake opening to match otherwise it’s still restricted. I just ordered a TB from Jason on Facebook. His is supposedly blended to the throttle blade instead of just ported out and he cuts one side of the shaft and polishes the TB as well.

I looked at them on the computer but it was about $400+ so it was out of my price range. The quality of work he does, if he installs those I bet they are top notch.

Nice, it’s $450 for a set of 2 but just one is $250, and that’s about the price for QTP setup.
