hey guys, my 2019 ram new body style has the hemi without the e torque upgrade. a couple days ago I noticed a weed wacker at high speed type sound coming from the truck when accelerating at normal speeds around town.didn't really sound to normal to me sounded like a slight exhaust leak underneath somewhere but when I brought it back to the dealership they took it for a ride and said they couldn't hear anything. I went back went for a ride with the service manager and he said he thinks what I was hearing is a normal thing a characteristic of the engine per se. I didn't notice it the first few weeks I had it and was wondering if anybody else can confirm whether that's a normal thing or have experienced that either way.I'm probably going to take it to another dealership for a second opinion.

On my 4th gen I had the dealership service manager tell me the tick was normal and brush it off. I contacted Ram cares from this forum who then contacted the service manager and had me bring my truck back in. They then did the proper checking and found 2 broken manifold bolts.

I got a second opinion from another dealership whose service manager i took a test drive with. he also said that what I'm hearing is in fact the sound a hemi makes. gonna take a little getting used to but i will rest a little easier now and we'll see. thank you.

Other than a few second tic at rare start ups, I don't think you should be hearing anything like you described.

My buddy just picked up a new big horn 5th gen yesterday and stopped by. We went for a quick ride and there's no weed whacker under his hood. Acceleration is smooth and quite.

If you havent had this issue fixed then I highly suggest you do it ASAP! I had the same issue with my 2015 Ram with the Hemi and was told by multiple dealer reps its "normal" for Hemi's. This is complete BS! After about 8mos it just got worse so i took it to a very reputable auto repair shop only to find out both manifolds had cracked bolts & the driver side manifold was warped beyond repair. 2 new manifolds and $1400 later the problem was fixed.
