Got a pretty bad storm last night and the street in front of the house flooded pretty good. Storm hit at about 3am so didn't have much time to move the truck and avoid it and by the time I got outside the water was too deep for me to feel good about starting the truck and moving it. The good thing is the inside/carpets and all is dry. I looked it all over and looks like the water line went up about 3/4 of the way over the rear diff and possibly a little more on the front. Do you guys think I should change the diff fluid to be safe or recommend any other preventative maintenance. I don't think it warrants me calling insurance co. I'll try to post some pictures also. Thanks in advance.

That's what I was thinking just wasn't sure about the water sitting there and the vents for a few hours before it drained from the street. Didn't want to end up with any water in there and toasting a diff when it only has 2k miles.

I do believe the vents are hosed up above the frame. this way you can pass thru water crossings. If not, then only being able to handle 10" of water is useless for a pickup. Especially a 4x4

If you can put a boat in the water I wouldn't worry about it.

Here's another picture just for reference the water line is about even with the bottom of the door but all seems pretty dry

Yop, Nothing to worry about, I've driven my old 2500 through 3' of water with no issues or concern. as mentioned all the vents are up high into the frame, everything else is sealed and didn't get high enough to get into the interior or engine all is good. if your concerned just crack the fill port stick your finger in and see how the fluid looks, if its grey then you have water if not all is good.

Anybody have any other concerns with the truck having the water even with the bottom of the door seals for 2-3 hrs I couldn't feel any water on the carpet but if it was under the carpet would you be able to tell it was there? Front suspension/bushings/cv or transfer case? I'm thinking no but just trying to get a feel for how you guys would think

You should be fine. If you just want to make yourself feel better pull off the door sill and you should be able to take a closer look at the carpet.

Check the diff fluid. If it's milky change it.

Spend a few minutes and check the fluid. A lot of people do a lot of things. Anytime the pumpkin is submerged you check.

I wouldn't worry about it .It keeps oil in it will keep water out , as long as it didn't get in the vent tube. Which is up higher then the rear end.

Thanks guys I crawled under everything looks pretty good. We were about half an inch from the danger zone so I feel like I dodged a bullet there no more parking in front of the house. I guess I was extra critical since the truck isn't even a month old. I was looking into the small chance I'd have to fight to total it if the rain kept coming.

Maybe, after your first drive, if possible, pull the diff fill plug and get a sample. If any amount of water "has" entered the diff, the fluid will have a milky color most likely. That said, probably you will be just fine if the water level didn't exceed the vent tube level.
