So, recently my driver's side RamBox failed to lock or unlock with the power-locks.

When I took my truck in to the dealership to apply the recalls I had let pile up, they wanted $140 to "diagnose" the issue (not fix but look at it).

I said no thanks but for a more reasonable diagnosis fee I may have said "ok"...

When I got home I Googled my issue and came across this video in under 5 minutes

I then spent $6.72 on QTY 2 P/N 68206089AA (I received 3 shipped).

A 10mm socket (to remove the 3 bolts), a Phillips screwdriver and 10 minutes of my time and the problem piece was replaced which fixed my issue.

Below is a picture of the culprit...

2 great ideas. I just recently had this issue and noticed the plastic broken too.
I may try the more permanent fix, since I utilize it so frequently.

Thanks!

I had the same issue, but took a more permeant approach for the fix, instead of reusing a plastic clip i threaded the end of the rod and put a nut on it with loctite. No way its breaking again.

heres my thread....

That is a damn fine fix and one I will implement once I run out of spare plastic clips!

I'm just glad the dealership didn't get $140 to look at it...

I should mention i did reuse the part of the clip that the rod goes into, it acts as a bushing between the rod and the lock mechanism and also takes up the slack. The nut I use was a 10-24.

I’d love to get you a pic, but I traded my truck for a 5th gen a month ago.

If you search google you’ll find where I got my idea from. But I can’t remember what forum the post was on.
