Just picked up my 2020 Limited (had a 2015 Limted) and not sure i'm a fan of the power running boards, when up feel like something is missing.

Is it possible to remove and go to a fixed running board? Is that a crazy thought?

Not a crazy thought to me. What happens to the power boards when it is 10 degrees and a foot of snow on the road. I bet they don't work too well with snow and ice caked all over them.

They work fine in snow and ice, caked on or otherwise. I live in NH and they went through the winter great last year

Instead of replacing them, you can go into the "Controls" app on the touchscreen and deploy them manually. I think they'll stay out until you bring them in again, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I use this feature when I wash the truck, to ensure I clean the boards.

I say crazy. I've had power running boards on 3 previous trucks and I put them on my Jeep JKU. I've never had a problem with them. They are now a must have option.

So far, not sure i'm a fan. Find myself waiting on them when i open the door, plus they don't feel as solid as the mounted nerf bars.

You can pull those off and install a set of oem factory wheel to wheel ones.

Power steps come down lower and make it easier to get in vehicle. They work great in Idaho winters.

Just spent the day going around with my friend with 2019 Ram with auto steps. I'm not sure they would last 10-15 years with me stepping on them 10-16 times a day. It seems to me that I've used some other ones that seemed much more solid like a permanent mounted step feels.

Funny, because I feel like the power boards on my RAM are much more solid-feeling than the fixed ones (OEM) I had on my 2015 F-150.

I'm sure they're cycled more than 75000 times before they pass QC. But whatever floats your boat. I'm sure a dealer would gladly trade out the power steps for standards if you pick out a higher end model.

I wanted power running boards because I like a clean look. The Night package came with wheel to wheel and they are growing on me. If you had a 2500 I’d possibly trade lolB9F03B9B-A365-47C8-8757-68E3EDF4F19F.jpeg

It is your truck, and I think you should go with what you really want, and comfortable with. As others have said, I'm sure a dealer would trade you out, or another member I'm sure would be more then happy to trade them out. In any case, good luck with your decision. And, Smitty2495, you have a very nice looking rig.
