I just purchased a 2004 SLT Hemi Sport. I really like the truck but on the driver door the Ram 1500 logo was missing a 0 making it a Ram 150 logo. I figured no big deal, I can just strip off the 1500 from both sides and reposition the passenger Ram logo to be in the same position as the driver door.

The driver door 150 emblems came off no problem. However, when I switched to the passenger door it appears that they were either attached from the factory with some sort of glue, or they were removed and reinstalled with some sort of glue. I can't tell if it was hot glue, super glue, or what was used.

I was able the get the Ram emblem off the side, but it left some NASTY residue on the door. I can't even get fishing line under the 1500 logo. 1st question, any suggestions on how to remove the adhesive from the door (I've tried goo gone and it seems to SORT of work, but it would take hours of rubbing and bottles of it.) Second question, what would you recommend for pulling the other emblems off if I can't get fishing line under them.

Thanks!

I would suggest heating the emblems up to try to get the glue to release.

Get 3m exterior tape. It's great. Eddie showed me it, and my grille lights are held by it.

^hes trying to remove it all...

Yeah try the heat gun, it's crazy that the fishing line won't work, try prying up a little to get the fishing line under it

and then to get the adhesive off you can either use an eraser wheel or they sell adhesive remover at the auto parts store that worked like a champ when I debadged mine

If someone superglued the emblems on then hopefully heat will allow the glue to come off. Hopefully it didn't ruin the paint beneath it.

I don't know if it's super glue or not. Goo gone sort of started to remove it, is there a higher strength adhesive remover that's paint safe? As far as heat gun goes, would a standard hair dryer be able to heat it enough, or not smart to use. Also, I can't seem to get the edge pried up to even slide fishing wire under. Would it be a bad idea to heat it up and try to just pull it loose with pliers?

The pliers could slip and chip the paint. I would heat it up with whatever you've got on hand, and then try to "saw" the fishing line into the corner of it.

I am in Lincoln, NE, the truck is red. Oddly enough it's actually my wife's truck, I just to get to do all the mods/fixins, and she gets to tell everyone it's hers.....lol

I guess tomorrow I'll try to heat them up and see about getting em pried up and loose. How long should I keep the heat on, read on a few websites that too much heat can damage the paint.

Was also thinking about an eraser wheel to get some of the thicker adhesive off then goof for the stubborn stuff. Any dangers with either of those tools (again, just being cautious because the wife will kill me if I hurt her baby, lol)

I'm not thinking any heat from a hairdryer is gonna damage the paint unless you press it right up against it. A heatgun, yes, but not a hair dryer. I took mine off by goof off/3m adhesive remover and my thumb. So I have no input on the eraser wheel.

I'll try the hair dryer/fishing line/goof off. Goof is is paint safe as long as it's not allowed to just soak on the paint im guessing.

Even with it soaking into the paint I've never had a problem. Just keep a towel under it when spraying it on and wipe off any excess that doesn't need to be there.

Goof off is taking care of the glue, but it looks like the glue is screwing up the paint under the emblem. Maybe with heating the glue it will do better on the paint.
