Ok here's what going on I have a 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7. My check engine light came on so I stopped at a advance auto and had them read what it was. I had 2-3 codes come up with the random misfiring and burning too rich. So I replaced the spark plug wires first since they were do and also the spark plugs and also all 8 coil packs just because they were do also since i haven't messed with them until now it has 132,000 miles on the engine. The engine is still running like its shaking the truck under 2,000 rpm and only when its like in over drive but when the trans kicks down or I'm giving it gas it smooth. Any ideas?

It's still on and running rough only at low idle and under 2k RPM when driving down road.

did you gap your plugs? or are the plugs for your truck pre-gapped?

i only ask because i had a friend with a 98' ram 2500 and he swapped all his plugs and coils and he didnt gap the plugs properly and it did the same thing, once he gapped them it ran perfect.

hmm, well not to worry you but my 2008 silverado threw a code for a cylinder 2 misfire and i changed my plug and it was still running a bit rough and i found out later it was a bad lifter and i had 20% less compression in the cylinder also. Didnt care to look any further into the issue so i traded in the truck and got a ram instead

I would do a few cheap things that will tell a lot.

Compression check. If good...

Have the antifreeze checked for exhaust gas. They draw a little and drop some fluid in it. It is an almost definitive way to tell if the head gasket is blown or if there is a crack. if good...........

Pull the injectors and have them flow tested.

You didn't mention any ticks or noises that would suggest lifters or valves or timing chains, go with the inexpensive tests.
