Problems with 2012 Ram 1500 transmission

I have about 3700 miles on my 12 Hemi Express CC and have had no problems. I will say though, that the shift points take some getting used to. I have driven my truck very gently since I got it, with only the occasional "Bonzai!" run to keep everything loose, you know. Do all of these trucks seem to have a very close 2nd and 3rd gear? If I manually shift I can barely tell a difference between the two. Have to go on to 4th if I'm in the throttle.

When you look at the gearing ratio's in the 6 speed, especially 2nd to 3rd, you'll know why you can't really tell the difference. 3rd is actually only used for a passing gear when needed or if you manually select it. Chrysler speaks highly of their 6 speed, but it is honestly just a glorified 5 speed.

No issues like yours but last night i looked under and saw a nice drop of oil on this bolt (the one facing the rear next to the blue dot on the oil pan). I wiped it off so you can't see the oil now but it was very clear amber color. None have fallen to the ground and it doesn't look like while driving the wind has been blowing the drops back over the tranny or anything so that's good. I tightened the bolt a hair but just now when I took this pic its definitely moist. A seal is broken somewhere. 2013 quad express hemi 6 speed with 2200 miles.

Mines at 6k now and no big problems yet. I have noticed mine doesn't want to go from auto to manual though. When I hold the shifter over to put it in manual it drops from 6th gear down to 2nd. Then the rpm spike since its in the wrong gear. It did it before and was supposed to be fixed after an update to the transmission program. Guess not. Is anyone else seeing this?

Texasez don't hold it over to switch to manual just bump it over. That's all I have to do with mine. Hope that helps ya

Edmund, My 2011 RAM Sport started the same thing yesterday. Exited off the interstate. When I came to a stop the truck was stuck in 4th gear.Would not come out of 4th. So I drove to my dealership and they are replacing the "Valve Body" as a fix. 18k miles a 4x4 that has been driven with total respect so I am sure I didn't cause the issue. Thinking of trading for a new Ram 8 speed if this continues.

We just bought a new 2012 that has been setting on the lot for a year with less than 150 miles. We have owed it for two weeks and it has been in shop 6 days for exact same transmissions problems. What is the outcome of these transmissions issues. Has Dodge found a fix or acknowledged they exist?

So your complete drive is out and you only have reverse is pretty much what we are all getting from reading the first post of this thread, is this what you are experiencing?

Funny I purchased A 2012 that has been sitting on the lot also. I have issues going into reverse. Sometimes it wont engage. I sit there for a few seconds then it goes in

yes i have taken mine in to the dealer for the same thing and they told me it was nothing. have not got a chance to take it back again.

My 2012 has 28000 Kms and my dealership is like 1800 Kms away I'm up north lol , sometimes when I back out of my driveway , come to a complete stop and then put it in drive, it will almost instantly clunk into drive lol anyone have that issue ?

Yes, a few times, but oddly, that's all the problems ive had with mine.

Tranny 2012 ram hemi

I just bought a12 1500 2wd hemi 6sp 35000mi. I drive in 4th I find that it shift with a leap into 4th. If I leave in 6th then it doesn't do it.. I go to have mine checked next week and I no I will not take it back until I ride with the the machine in the truck to be sure it's rt. And I will follow the rules of the lemon law. I paying to drive my truck not to set in s shop !!

Trans bangs on kickdown to 4th

My 12 sport bangs on the downshift to 4th,went in limp mode twice,stuck in 4th,threw code p0734 incorrect gear ratio,changed input,output speed sensors,still acts up,called dealer parts dept for new valvebody w shift solenoids,national backorder,i do not trust dealer to fix,,any suggestions
