Hi guys,

So I am looking to invest in a programmer/tunner soon. Now the only reason for this post is because I simply need a basic one that will only do a handful of items. I don't plan to do any performance upgrades/modding to my truck as of right now so custom tune is worthless to me currently. I am getting bigger wheels on my truck however. I want something that will basically recalibrate the speedo and everything else that comes with a different wheel size. I just need the cheapest thing I can find that dose that job purely as my dealership refuses to do it for me.

Custom tune is still worth it on a stock truck, but any programmer will recalibrate so just check out the prices and chose what you wanna pay, check moes for great prices and service

I would go with the Diablo InTune DCX. We are actually offering the custom tuning as a free upgrade right now, so its no extra cost to you. Like said above, you don't have to have an extensive mod list to benefit from custom tuning, so this would be your best option.

Hypertech does offer the speedo calibrator, but at $200, I think you are much better off going with an actual tuner. Tuner will get you better mileage, more power, let you adjust tire size, disable MDS, read diagnostic trouble codes, and more. Bang for buck, the real tuner is the way to go.

So does a tuner really help gas engines? I too am going up in tire size so I'm getting a programmer, but have no idea where to start or look

Same thing I mentioned earlier applies to your 6.4. The Hemifever tuning using 1 of the Diablo tuners is good for about 30-35hp/tq to the rear wheels. Its not 150-200hp like you can get from a diesel tuner, but it is the single best bang for buck mod you can buy for that motor.

Keep in mind there may be warranty issues.
I know they work having had one on my Ford and want one for my RAM in the worst way but the dealer already warned me about getting one and I'd have to travel a distance to another dealer.
Diablo insists that they have not had any dealer related issues which seems a stretch.
I actually tried to buy a modified Sport QC (tuner, exhaust and lift) but the dealer would not provide anything more than a basic 30 day warranty.
I'm still looking for an angle to get one.
