So... I set my AC to recirculate. Cut the truck off and come back later and it's on fresh air. EVERY FREAKING TIME!

Is there a settings that I'm missing which keeps my settings?

Hi DangBruhY,
Per page 100 of your Owner's Manual, "In cold weather, use of Recirculation mode may lead to excessive window fogging. The Recirculation feature may be unavailable (button on the touchscreen greyed out) if conditions exist that could create fogging on the inside of the windshield. On systems with Manual Climate Controls, the Recirculation mode is not allowed in Defrost mode to improve window clearing operation. Recirculation is disabled automatically if this mode is selected. Attempting to use Recirculation while in this mode causes the LED in the control button to blink and then turns off." You may also read more about how the Recirculation mode operates on page 95 of your Owner's Manual. If you do not have a copy of the manual handy, you can view it by clicking on the following link: https://msmownerassets.z13.web.core.windows.net/assets/publications/en-us/Ram/2018/1500/9393.pdf.

If you feel that this function is not operating correctly, we suggest addressing this with your dealer. You're welcome to send us a private message as well and we'll gladly assist with that process.

I'm trying to keep my truck on recirculate, because I don't like the outside smell in my truck. (I have allergies) I never have problems with the windows fogging up, so that isn't an issue with me. My my issue is with selecting the recirculate and having to press it every time I get in the truck. A lot of times I forget, until I pass by someone cutting grass or something stinky. (It's more of a medical concern than a convenience)

They all do that,no different then using Tow/Haul mode or Traction control off mode.Every time you shut it off it'll revert back to the default setting which is Off.I don't think there's much you can do about it,except get in the habit of pushing the button every time you start the truck.

I fight with my truck over the a/c and recirculation settings quite often. Drives me crazy.

How come the air conditioner fan speed doesn't reset to 0, but the recirculate resets?

To tell you the truth I don't remember having any vehicle with an electronic HVAC system that stayed on recirculate, even my wifes winter beater 98 Buick Regal resets the recirculate to off if I remember right. You're just going to have to get in the habit of hitting the button each time you start the truck.

Try using Max A/C. After turning off and on my 18, it will still be in recirculation, the same fan speed, and coming through the same vents using Max A/C found on the touch screen

This is the only way to keep it in recirculate. However if your truck has a humidity sensor which is on the high end HVAC systems, on long drives the system will automatically cycle to fresh air every now and then to control humidity inside the vehicle.

My 2017 SLT QC does this.

Thank you for posting this! This fixed the recirculate turning off on my 2018.

I am sorry to hear that you need the recirculation mode,
I often run mine on high with the windows open so as to get fresh air with a bit of cooling.

When I was in Upstate NY in cold weather I always saw cars with windows so fogged over it was a miracle they could see out. When in such a car I had to turn recirculation off. Guess I understand why the recirculation resets when car is off. But I don't get why every time I try to turn temperature all the way down it turns the AC on, that is annoying if I just want outside temperature and not even colder.

Its because the last click on the dial is Max A/C which turns on the A/C and the recirc door is closed. The notch above it won’t turn on the A/C.

Yeah, wish it was a separate button only.
