I had the same experience on my wife's Ford Edge. Go to check her fluids when we had first started dating and can't find the trans dipstick! I was shocked that they no longer use a dipstick. A agree with your assessment. To quote Jurassic Park: "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think whether or not they should!"What's funny, tho, is after purchasing my Ram, I drive it home, and I'm familiarizing myself with it, and for the life of me I couldn't find the freakin' tranny dipstick! I thought I was going blind! Where on earth did they hide it?? If at first you don't succeed, consult the owner's manual, and voila! (not that I was happy about it... I mean, just becuz you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD!) But thanks to this forum I know how to deal with it, so, many thanks to this braintrust!
And yes this forum has helped me a lot through the years too, tons of guys here with deep knowledge of Ram trucks that I am grateful for.
