Good morning. I have a 04 Dodge Ram hitch receiver that I am trying to sell but the guy has an 06 Dodge Ram. I've tired doing some research and if I'm not mistaken the bumpers are completely different but not entirely sure. Do you guys think it would fit his truck or not??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

without knowing the make/model of the receiver it's hard to tell. The trim level of both trucks will be helpful as well.
Try hopping on summitracing.com and look to see if they have the receiver you;r selling, it'll tell you the year range and models that the receiver will fit.

Don't all the receiver hitches mount under/away from the bumper, anyway? I might be missing something, but I wouldn't see that as an issue. I know any truck I had with a receiver hitch, it was ~3" lower than the bumper where the insert went.

I'm guessing, but I wouldn't think that even mounting points would differ with a mass-produced receiver hitch.

The mounting points on the frame will be the same, but the actual position of the receiver may vary. It's best to cross reference the part number, as the fit/finish of the receiver may vary between years.
Chances are it'll fit without issue, but there is no way to say definitively with the little info provided.
