I have the problem. When I'm using the XM radio, it cuts in and out only on the XM side.
Both AM/FM works perfect. This only have problems while I'm in city limits. Out on the road it works great.
I feel my radio has a weak receiver. This unit is a rebuilt unit. My other truck works perfect. My portable unit works great also. My wife's car XM works perfect.
I had a problem in the back up camera and the dealer replaced the radio and said the could not get a brand new radio. My Ram is a 2017 SLT. with 20,000 some odd miles. The dealer said they would have to test the radio, not sure how other than drive around the neighborhood to check it and see what happens.
The radio will come and go when ever, even sitting at a stop light.
Has anyone else had the problem?

The take-off angle to the satellite may be pretty low on the horizon. That means buildings make great obstructions. If it lasts several minutes it may be something else, but if its a cut out followed by a reacquisition delay of a less than a minute, I'd guess you are getting blocked in town by apartments and office buildings. You also have a lot of tall hills to your South East. So the angle may not be great if that's where the satellite you are subscribed to is geosynchronous.

Alternatively, perhaps there are powerful electromagnetic emissions like the approach radar for Oakland or SFO, microwave/cellular towers, radio station transmitters or power stations and transformer parks, or overhead lines interfering.
