I have a 2015 ram express with the factory radio with the smaller screen and was hoping I could easily upgrade to maybe one of the factory radios that came is a higher model of the same year.

Does anyone know if this is a simple swap and if so maybe some part numbers?

god dam.. seems like a ton of work.. Oh well.................
Just buy an aftermarket 7" unit. That way you will actually have RCA outputs, and dont have to deal with all of the update crap and adapters with the 8.4" radio. You can get a nice new radio for less than $1,000. Those used 8.4's are not cheap.

You can actually upgrade to a higher model without doing the HVAC upgrade as well. Relatively plug and play without it.

that is exactly what I am looking for. Just want the radio upgrade not all of the other stuff? Any idea of the part number for that radio and bezel?

The price is absolutely ridiculous, especially since they left the knockout plug in it for the volume knob. To bad scosche or metra doesn’t make them, they’d probably be $40 like they’re 8.4 to aftermarket double din bezel... https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142CR1297D/Scosche-CR1297DDB-Dash-Kit-Matte-Black.html?tp=3121

So if I understand correctly the radio would be the same, but it is the bezel that is different? One would have the climate control and one would not?

And yes, the radio is the same, but you would not be able to control the climate from the screen unless you do the full conversion. You also have to have steering wheel controls for the volume since you won’t have the 8.4 volume knob

Yes, the infotainment bezels are expensive, but currently the only option. $150 w/o volume control, $300 with. Otherwise, your option is the the 8.4 HVAC conversion which would cost between $400 - $500 alone.

If you don't want to do the full conversion and you don't want to pay the $300 ridiculous price for infotainments volume control bezel all you need to do is either add the audio control kit to your steering wheel or purchase a leather steering wheel off of eBay that will come with all the audio controls on the back of it. All leather steering wheels for the 13 and up Rams have the audio controls on the back of the steering wheel. You can pick them up pretty regularly on eBay for around $150 as long as it's for a 13 or newer Ram it will fit your truck. It's completely plug and play and then you don't need the volume control bezel from infotainment. Before infotainment offered their bezel many of us just trimmed the RA2 bezel on the back side so it fit flush against the screen and it actually didn't look bad at all. As far as the radios themselves go you can pick up a RA3 non Nav radio for around $350 to $400 and the RA4 Nav radio for around $450 to $550. I understand there's a lot of people out there that would prefer to go aftermarket but there's also a lot of misinformation thrown around about what it actually cost to do in the OEM upgrade and how to do it. . Many people see it advertised on infotainment and don't realize that is extremely simple to do and there's no special programming involved as long as you get a radio out of a Ram or a Jeep Grand Cherokee you will be fine. The full conversion with an RA4 radio is going to cost you around $900. If you dont want to spend tjst much up front you can purchase the radio and the correct steering wheel and everything will function normally and then possibly in the future you can add parts unill you have the whole conversion. I did the full conversion with RA4 and I love it. This is a pic of my RA4. I also just purchased a 2018 UAQ Nav radio with Android auto and Apple carplay I'm going to be installing it this weekend. 93e6e67ecd1ec12152b262a9be25beea.jpg2906d3b693de95cb60803dff10072573.jpg
