My 2019 1500 big horn. The radio volume fades in and out on it own on all local channels. Stays steady at stops and goes nuts when driving. It doesn't do it on satellite radio. The first time I took it back to the dealer they said it didn't do it for them. So I recorded it with my phone and show it to the service writer at the dealer and they said it didn't act up for them when I picked it up. WTH? Anyone else have this problem and what did your dealer do for you?

does volume go up when you're going faster? Go down at stop lights?

The volume acts like someone is turning the volume up and down as your in motion and stays at a steady volume at a stop

Sounds pretty similar to what I believe is referred to as "automatic volume control" which should be something you can turn off in the settings. With this feature enabled, the stereo would adjust the music volume up while accelerating to compensate for the additional vehicle noise, and back down when coming back to a stop when those vehicle noises decrease. This has been around on various cars for a long time now, I've never personally cared for it and turn it off. Have you checked in the stereo settings for this feature?

You mean, the madder and louder she gets the louder the stereo goes. Hmm....what's not to like? :)

I have a similar issue with mine where the volume fads in/out. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does it is frustrating. I have checked all the setting. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet because it will be a waste of time. Unless they can duplicate the problem there is nothing they can or will do. If you figure out the problem please post the fix.

their is a setting in the radio to turn the volume up as you drive faster because of the road noise it has a range up to 3 so maybe put at zero and see what happens. this is all software problems from the suppliers that makes the radio Ram does not research their products to see if the problems pass onto the purchaser That end up costing the company tons of money and piling up repairs in their dealerships

I also have a 2019 1500 Big Horn with the same radio issues. 80% of the time, the volume undulates from very low to very loud, continuously while driving. It only does this in AM/FM. if im useing satellite or bluetoothe, it is fine. When i come to a stop, it levels off and plays at whatever volume setting it was at. As soon as you start to move, it goes bat **** crazy. it seems to be tied into the speed sensor. I have shut off volume speed attenuator. it makes no difference whether it is set to on or off

This has been occuring for well over a year know, have not brought it to the dealer yet. Affraid Ill get the same old, " it didnt do it for us"

anyone got some insight on this before I start disliking my dodge. Its my 3rd new RAM, and unfortunately the first one that has caused me stress

If you're concerned that it won't do this for the service tech, try making a video recording of the problem to show them.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

If it is not your setting I would look into a different area. I had the same sort of issue with mine. If you go to AM then Back to FM it would temporarily fix volume issue or almost like it was trying to lose the station.
Took it to dealer and they found,,,, "Tech performed USB Update 184824 to radio. Test drove and verified concern fixed." I have had mine back from dealer almost 2 weeks now and it is fixed!!

I just traded in my 16 for a 20 and took delivery of it Friday.

I didn't drive the truck until today, same thing with the volume. It was doing it with sxm and running off my phone with Bluetooth and Android auto. I played with the speed settings and all that other stuff, no changes.

I suppose it's going back in.

I bought a 2020 ram back in April and had 3 separate units installed since then. Nothing fixed this volume modulation issue. The service manager just told me that the engineers refusing to look into this further. They are saying it's a failsafe that prevents the radio volume from damaging the unit. This is not normal. No radio should cut out the dynamics of the music. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Did this cure the volume issue when you run android auto? My volume drops off whenever the music picks up and the singing begins. Dealer has installed 3 different head units and the engineers just closed the case with no resolution.

As I stated earlier I was having the same problem with the volume going up and down on its own, along with carplay would not work. When I plug my phone in it would charge but carplay would not work. So I took it in to the dealership. They said they did 3 updates, which none worked. So they ordered a new radio. Went in had it had them change the radio. The volume going up and down seemed to be fixed. However, not carplay, so they said it was some media hub that needed to be replaced. So they ordered that and I go it installed today. So my radio issue with the volume is fixed and I now have carplay again.

Yeah that didn't work for my situation they've done all of that. 3 new radios, a new active noise cancelling module, and new media hub. It's the worst when I'm playing Spotify through the media hub. Just for clarity, I have an AT&T iPhone 11, and a Verizon Samsung S10+ 5G and they both have the same problem.

So what are they going to do next?
