So, I'm looking to downgrade to a hemi from a cummins mainly for cost, etc. My payment would decrease significantly. I found three Laramie's that I am considering. Only one of them has the 4.10s though. I tow 2-3 times per week, less than 100 miles round trip each day and the weight is usually from 6,000-9,000 pounds. I would ideally like to level it and put on 35s or 295/60/20s.

I know that 4.10s are the better choice, but the two trucks with 3.73s are better equipped than the one with the 4.10s.

Do you think it would matter much if I just went with the 3.73s and put on 295/60/20s, leveled it and do towing thats well below the 14,000 lb threshold that they have?

Tough to say, my PW has 4:10s on the stock 33s, it pulls my camper that’s about 7500lbs super easy, I plan on going to 37s on it.
With that said with out doing all the math (comparing mine to what your looking at)you going to 35s would not be something I thing would be to bad as the 8sp has a real low first gear.
Lower gears are better though no question

Shoot my last truck had 3:21 gears with 35s and pulled the same camper easy as well. No mountains around here so can’t say about that. Lol

I had the same internal conundrum. I ended up with a Laramie loaded with a long box and 3.73s. Hard to replace options where as you can always regear.

ReGear is 1500-2000 minimum for parts and you do the work. Double to have it done. I specifically ordered 3:73. With tow haul, gear selectability and the power of the 6.4 it will pull fine. Going to 4:10s will up your RPM about 150 at 65 mph. You will not feel any difference off the line.

Does the hemi have a 6 or 8 speed (not sure what year you are looking at). Given that you are towing and going up to 35's I would definitely lean towards the 4:10 gears myself.

I've priced re-gearing and I'm getting close to $4000
